Thanks all!

Ahoj Pavle! Yes, I am Czech, born and raised in Prague. We should get together for some beers and skiing some time ;)
What a fantastic trip ... congrats, guys. I checked out your Smugmug photos and was drooling over them, and then got inspired for a trip for next year ;- )

Radka, are you of Czech origin? Ahoj, Pavel
Great fire photo - I second the Boot, more photos, stonking-looking trip
...also, it's a bit early to retire innit? You must have something else to do..........?
Those are beautiful shots. Thankyou
(apart from the Dynafit fail - which sucks)
Sorry to miss the AM group.  We needed a short drive to fun skiing and found it 1-5PM under the Pacific Crest lift.  Nice breeze to keep us cool, soft butter snow with no stickyness (until 4PM.)  Great fun watching the pups enjoy their first snow day, and Belinda enjoying her first skinning day!
Very nice morning ! Zap looking smooth as ever ! Ed and I made it down to north bend bar and grill before they ran out of beer.
Nice work. I was on Decker Mountain Glacier Tuesday afternoon as well. You picked a beautiful time to be there. Did you see any activity in the late afternoon heat?
"and exited from the black peak col and followed the wing lake drainage to the hwy."

I guess that explains the "bloody mess" comment from Kyle  >:(

Need more pics!
Nice work!  I was wondering when I would see a TR from this trip.  It was fun to run into you two at the trail head.  My friend and I ended up coming back to ski Black peak on Monday (when the visibility was amazing) and we saw your tracks heading up and over the col just south of Wing lake (I assume they were yours).  We tried to spot your tracks from the Black Peak South ridge col but didn't have any luck.  Anyway, way to get after it!

nice line in the half-pipe!
We got the finger yesterday, great skiing in the coulior, really shitty post holing though!

Saw your ski tracks in the fan.
Yeah right Scott! You're not done...

super fly open fly - - boing!
Yeah man that's sweet! Big days and day packs!

love that shot of J-berg cut by shadow!  (while I was sleeping)

nicely timed!

Dammit Scott!  At this pace you're going to ride the Eve Dearborn Mem. route soon. Jesus. Nice pace this season dude!

I think I'll pass on that one!

Reading recent tragic news, and the ensuing comments, i came across a gem from Lou Dawson stating that not sharing a mistake is selfish. I made the comment before of not wanting to be a case stud...
Yeah boys!!

My legs hurt just reading this.

Loving the ball cap under the climbing helmet style.

The crux of the day was definitely the drive back to Seattle...
That would explain why we didn't see your tracks on the way up.  :)
Yeah buddy. Good to see the man isn't holding you down.
Currently from the summit there is a steep ramp that connects to a gully which got us to the couloir.

yeah man! how was skiing the summit to the notch? every time i've been up there, it's been all rock

Went to The Fuhrer in hopes a of a good corn run, not quite. Approached via the Fan and had to boot up due to firm early AM crust that supported body weigh a 1/3 of the time. The snow depth varied from a few inches of soft sastrugi to 15" of saturated snow from the last storm and wind transport in the Wilson Glacier/Turtle snow field.

By 10 AM, the heat felt like  microwave, w...
Skiing down to the lake is not allowed AFAIK.

You can ski the otherside of mt Scott, which looks steeper. But then ou would ave to climb out, feasible in a long day a little later in the season when you can get closer.
Nice TR and great pics. Does anyone ever ski DOWN to the lake????? That would be really cool.
Last year I followed a skin track up the snow ramp on the upper SE ridge but it wasn't easy because of the steepness and narrowness, drifts caused by the trees and the reasonable drop to the side to be wear off which is why this year I was keep to try the more southern face. As a scramble it would be easy with plenty to hold onto (the trees make perfect-hand holds)  but skinning is a little tricky. I always try to keep skis on for as long as possible but I should really just be willing...

Thanks for the heads up.  I honestly didn't know about that policy, but will abide by it in the future.

I turned around and ski in-bounds at Alpental, which also had a number of large slides.

This massive slide got a me a little spooked, so I turned around and ski in-bounds at Alpental, which also had a number of large slides.

In case you didn't see it:

Nice report Tim - love the bear tracks!

We found the same thing that you did when ascending Scott last spring - we were angling around the south-side to hit the summit trail, but then the trail just ended up just running into some ice/rime, so we opted to scramble up through the stunted trees and boulders instead to reach the top.  In restrospect, the snow ramp on the inside of the upper SE ridge seemed like it would be more direct.
I've looked at this photo for several years now wanting to get back there and ski that line...

Nice to hear that it's a good one.  Thanks for sharing.
10 is a late start and the t bar not going will also hurt. I have been complaining to the VP of Mountain Operations but even if he opens up Glacier Chair their is no way that the t-bar will be running on May 7th as the Blackcomb Glacier Road will be closed as they are putting in the new lift in the Crystal Zone. That being said, from the top of 7th a high traverse is possible on very steep terrain (if icy can be dicey). I took a lower traverse and boot packed up the second half of the t-bar and...

The visibility was poor when we dropped off the South side what I think people were calling "Maggies".

Thanks for the report.  Heard the vis was low all weekend.  That run you are referring to is called Madison Ave, somewhat close to Maggies with wind howling in your face :)

Great TR, thanks! I hiked up Mt Scott on Labor day this year and couldn't stop thinking about how great of a ski it would be.
Damn....I was hoping to do something in the blackcomb BC on May 7th...but now I see the area doesn't open until 10am now...and that the glacier express and T-bar might not be open. Damn.

And of course I was hoping that things would be corning up, but it sounds like variable windslabilicious. Thanks for posting. I wonder what conditions would have been on the more south facing slopes. I wonder if your buddies skied the finger chutes off of a decker, which may have been more corny.
Nice meeting you two yesterday!  Was great chatting with you guys in the parking lot :)  Looking forward to some pics
Great images of your trip.  Reminds me of a trip I need  there years ago. But your video with the last images-was cool.  ;)
The road looked to be blocked by snow, certainly would have been unless they actively plough that road.
Sweet, what a gorgeous day and great pics! Thanks.
Curious why you would leave from the Summit Snow Park rather than the summer TH up Fourmile Lk Rd?  The ski down the east bowl is pretty spectacular and the route through the forest while not slogless, didn't seem bad at all.
Fabulous images of the lake!!

Zap will you be repeating tomorrow ? I can knock out 4 laps before i have to back for grandaughter sitting!

We are hoping to go on Friday.  You should have a great day on Thursday. Save some energy for your granddaughter later.  ;)

"Excellent. It's great to know you're out and about again.
Hope to run into you again one day soon...
Yeah, you should be good at any of the ski areas on that side of the highway now.

Sorry for the newb question, but did you ski within the Summit West ski area? And they're cool with people earning their turns when they're closed? I ask because I may try to take advantage of this beautiful weather tomorrow or Friday but don't have a partner for BC travel.
