Beautiful pictures - the Elkhorns are pretty sweet.
Met a couple who had camped out. They woke up to -10F in their vestibule
That is extreme!
Cool you guys got out there! How was base up high on castle?
nice report from further south than usual.

Nice report. Did that much traveling leave any time to save a life?
Cold. But a bit warmer and more pleasant above the inversion. Minimal wind.
Nice pictures! What were temperatures like?
Damm...that looks like heaven. Maybe I'm going to have to spend some $ on gas? Send some of that cold smoke my way!
I was wishing for facial hair today, so cold. Hope you can ski tomorrow, Aaron.

I wonder if they were training a new snow plow operator. I heard they shot an operator again this year.
I fixed it for you Andy.
Dude, what happened to the porn stache? I skipped today, got a little frost nip on the cheeks and nose yesterday.
I wonder if they were training a new snow plow operator. I heard they were short [lol Rusty] on operators again this year. And that the guy they hired after last winter couldn't/wouldn't operate the rotary plow.
Have to agree on the photos… Nice lighting. Looks like the snow was fun.
Potential Tatooshers take heed, the road from Stevens Canyon Jct to the E end of Reflection lake was plowed sometime in the past 2-3 days.
Can't see how plowing the reflection lake road would have helped the budget ???
But it sure would take away from winter recreation by XC skiers and snowshoers and backcountry skiers accessing the Tatoosh ??
nice photos pete! Looks like a good time

Did you essentially follow the summer trail before you gained the southern ridge?
Yes. We were able to skin but at this point, especially after we down-hiked it, its probably easier to boot up.

I'm not sure what you mean by TH? That's probably a stupid question.
Just across the street from the TH. Shouders of the highway are plowed on both sides.

WTF? Probably did not have much to do during the 3 sunny days the park was close...
Sorry to bail early, but I made it to the grandson's 10th b'dy celebration with an hour to spare--should have taken half that to do some stretches before I drove to Olympia--once there, my right leg (gas pedal leg) kind of froze in place and I had a hard time walking--but nothing that Alleve, stretching, tiger balm, beer, wine, and sleep couldn't cure. LOL
Nice Glenn, great to see you back on skis so quick! Are you up this weekend?

Below 3800ft it's less about skiing and more about an adventure.
Well said! I'm sitting here procrastinating, when I should be up skiing, because the last few days have been....adventurous. Where the skiing's a bit lacking, it sure is beautiful up there right now though, anybody touring at the pass will at least have some million dollar v...
Worth it may be a bit subjective. The coverage in most of the other places is certainly better but it's a further drive, the rain crust is pretty pronounced under the top veerrry light 6-8" new snow and requires a feather light touch or low angle collection zone not to hit it, and it makes for difficult skinning without crampons.

Looking at a possible weekend trip and wondering if it is worth it? Did you go all the way to the top of 2?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Always grateful for a Hood report and with such detail! Thanks.
Just got them and so far so good. I skied both good and bad powder and they were as good as anything I've skied. I think their waist is 108 and the previous widest ski I've owned was a 98 waist (Salomon Sho Guns). For me the sweet sport is somewhere in this area. They are very light. On hardpack in the ski area, they feel light with very little cush. A bit shaky on ice, but I am not used to even a little bit of rocker. I closed down Seppo's on the last day there and lucked into fr...
Cool. thanks for the detailed report

I want that hat!
Careful, he's probably armed.
Thanks for the report, Robie!

Narada Face is rocks & brush. Trail to Paradise hiking only.

Dual-listing telemetry outputs (with fractional degrees C to preserve resolution) would be a nice, lossless step in that direction (and friendly to Canada). When considering questions of water and s...
