I'm back on the coast so I can't join you but I'm sure you are still finding the goods. I like the pruning saw addition to the kit.

but kind of afraid of scratching it as I plan to make it last for at the very least 5 years.
I've scratched my boards there a handful of times this season, twice to the core, it's not worth it.
12/28 Pretty scratchy everywhere. Bad skiing for sure, on armstrong express slopes. Slightly better top half of chair 2, if you could find smooth untracked snow.
Thanks for the replies guys! I'm looking to use my split board for the first time but kind of afraid of scratching it as I plan to make it last for at the very least 5 years. There so expensive! Looking like I might have to wait a while longer to use it. :(
Doug---useful info, unfortunately :'(.
A few miles SW of Hyak, commonly accessed via FS 9070 from Hyak. A popular late spring/early summer touring destination, the north-facing bowl holds snow until early July with some fun chute entrance options until mid-June. Plus, it's 90 mins away from downtown Seattle...
I hope i don't sound stupid but where is silver peak? Next to alpental?
That was a fun day, Brian. Thanks for the company and the inspiration.

We made it up to point 7789 for lunch after some shenanigans beneath Pan Point... I was able to skin 2/3 up and then kicks steps in ice with snowboard boots the rest of the way but my partner was not so lucky (it was his first day skinning!).
Rode from 7789 to McClure Rock and then bailed towards Mazama Ridge for some glorious steep turns in soft snow at about 1pm. Made a quick lap back up to McClure Rock and then followed the same line down and all the way out to Edith Creek bridge.<...

Moxie getting faceshots! How's Walker, is he still getting out? He must be 14 or 15?
Believe it or not, Moxie is currently my best ski dog. Walker is still the best athlete, but he is so deaf that if he gets ahead and I want to turn, I'll lose him.
Aaron I'm going to head back up again tomorrow late morning to check what damage thi...

Best tracks I've seen in a while! Very jealous. All of the Blewett looks like your see through track out. Might go hike another Cashmere brown hill...
Thanks for posting some goods here, Mike - the recent warming trend had me worried there's not much of them to be found these days.
Looks like you and your 4-legged companion had a blast ;- )

^^^that's normal for here, we only worry if it gets close to 140-150 mph.
Saw a weather report that said winds had been clocked at 99 MPH on Mission Peak the day you were looking for turns!

Avajane, these two were trying to point out that the listed date is wrong, but apparently they were too subtle. You can edit the original post's date to December 22 using the same "modify" function which you used to edit the post, although you'll need to reattach the attached images.
Thanks for the conditions report.

Bummer. You missed it by a day. Sat turned out to be so much better than expected. No crust, no rain, and much better coverage in the boulder fields. Kind of heavy wet 7" at the road became more like a foot higher up, and skied pretty well. Morning had a lot of moisture in the air, but by afternoon some kind of suction from the east started drying things out and the snow actually improved. Made a big day of it and didn't get to the car until after dark.

LOL. Typical conscessionaire fare. The only good concessionaire food I've had was at Mt. Hood's Timberline Lodge; they had quite a chef there for a while, at least. The food at the High Camp Lodge at White Pass is sometimes not bad. The food at Paradise Lodge, the couple of times I've eaten there was marginal as was the food at the Crescent Lake Lodge in Olympic NP--and...

Thanks for posting the pics. Right up until I saw those I had myself convinced that it would be worth going to ski the "slippery snow." I called my buddy at 6:30AM and called it off.
My pain - your gain. You're welcome.

You should go right to Paradise tomorrow. You'd love it!
The trick, That is cool. I kicked and glided on snow at one of the golf courses today in Reno, NV where I live. Great pooch photo
For the most part all of the hosts have their favorite spots to play.

I went up to High Camp Dec 16-19 and did bring my camera!
Sunrises, hot tubbing and some skiing too
Unfortunately the warm period a week ago wasn't kind to most of the snowpack up there, producing a variable crust in many places (not all!) but it did snow a couple inches while we were there and we found a couple wind-loaded spots on the ridge with very good skiing. It was, as usual, stunningly beautiful up high around the lakes with...

mac… Check out the 2 videos of Ed dropping the knee on flickr. He's mastered it.
Well, this may have been it for the road -- hopefully the forecast of over a foot of snow between tonight and tommorrow at Snoqualmie will be true.
Stellar---love the summit cloud on Tahoma, too.

Nice effort ! Thanks for the report cause I had no idea about that rd even being open still!
Wow, that's way better than I would've expected ... thanks for sharing, Randy.
Yeah, great photos and looks like an outstanding day. Sign me up for some of that.
Damn dudes this looks stellar. Excellent style in excellent conditions.
Heh.

Hey John,
Did you really ask this of scott... "Did you have to navigate by headlamp at all?"
Good point. It was in inside joke actually.
And one more… I love the green rocks of the cascades in winter shade…

Scott… Sounds like you had an adventure… I'd definitely love to join you next time. Sorry I didn't have the time to devote to the epic, but I have to say Crystal BC dished out the goods for Ed and me ;D
