Your *gasp* heels....
What's the story with those heels?!

Oh it was real bubbly.

Only manly drinks in Montana.
I think it's hiking time, but if Mike would carry my skis and boots I'd ski! :)
Suncups were minor, a non-issue really. only two legitimate melted out campsites adjacent to camp lake. Things are changing rapidly though...
Cool video, gotta love the buddy system when the surfs up!

Awesome video. Looks like an amazing trip, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the TR,  what time did you head down the NFNWR?

Where were snow levels on June 1?

Bugs were tolerable at the trailhead and the worst between Soap and Whychus creeks-still not too bad though. Bugs were no problem at all around Camp lake as there is very little bare ground, the lake was about 3/4 melted out.

We were able to ski down to the Chambers Lakes with a couple of very short carries on flatter ground.

Great Pictures!

We needed you dgallanger. No one was along to double-dog dare us to pond skim.
Note to others: Big Tuna is not a good option to gain the N ridge, unless you want to climb steep choss...
Andres and I were up there last weekend, and we fell victim to the TAY effect. Having seen the nice runs folks had taken on the Big Tuna/Genie snowfield, we decided it looked like a "shortcut" onto the N ridge. Not a bad choice until we reached the top of the snowfield and found the only way onto the ridge was a rock climb. Less chossy than most of the rock around but low 5th class, at least in ski boots with skis on packs. For whatever reason we had brought a rope, and I was able to s...

Great Pictures!

Dean - I expect  a report with pictures on here Monday morning from your weekend adventure.

Thanks for the update- I did it from  Camp  Lake around June 1 and  it was excellent with tons  of snow low down.  How is the sun- cup  situation?  Are the mosquitoes fierce yet (anywhere and including pole creek trail head)?

Thinking that a run down to Chambers Lake(s) would be a nice line (unless there are mosquitoes there).  Did you notice if that would be continuous?

Beautiful picture.  Looks like a fun puzzle to ski.

Wall quality.  Very nice.
Geewhiz, bacon and love or is it love and bacon? Great country, and a whippet, I hope that is not carbonated apple juice, but real bubbly, might just about make it perfect.  thanks
I was up there for the last two days (7/7-8). Didn't go all the way up 2nd Burroughs when I saw how dry things were (perhaps I should have). Found a good 400 ft. patch on the east face of 1st and lapped it 5 times. No snow down into the valley. Today I dropped a little gully off Soughdough ridge where the Burroughs trail starts the long traverse. Good steep snow for ~300 ft. vertical, short carry across talus, then another 400 vert. to the valley floor. I did it again, but the bugs found me...
Wow, great TR!  Was very curious to know what was going on over there lately.  So still a (somewhat) easy option to bag July "safety" turns then.  Thanks again!
Another pic looking down from below the skier's summit to the tarn on the PCT.
My wife came on the trip with me but I climbed solo. Unfortunately there were only patches between the bridge and the camp site, so we just hiked the trail to camp. From there it was continuous snow to Meany Crest (with two short carries), but pretty steep and I booted that section. Going to melt quickly with this forecast!
You truly inspire. Some day I will follow your tracks :)
Nice!  I thought it would be too late season for Buckner, but that actually looks pretty reasonable still.
You know the ONLY reason it didn't turn cloudy and rain on you was because I wasn't along this time  ;) Glad you got it, turns look great!
Very nice!
Were you solo?  Where did the skinnable snow start after crossing the Fryingpan Creek bridge/log?

Nice pictures!
Cumulus and I, with the company of Freebird, Snoholic and many other sliders, took our little daughters up there, the 3 days prior to your trip. Conditions are good.
Here's a little edit of our adventures:

Yay to NextGen!
Great pic thanks for sharing.
Great meeting you out there Steve.... the skin track was payback for the helpful beta!  :D

We met a nice group of three (whose names I'm forgetting) out as part of an overnighter who were heading in the same direction and gave us some nice beta.

That was Anita, Brad and me.  Nice to meet you.   You guys set a great skin track up to the col S of the E peak.  We had excellent conditions skiing the Lynch Glacier and bonus turns on the return down to Hyas Cr...
Here is how covered it looked from Dragontail on 7-4.  Your report confirms that Daniels is the place to be right now.  Thanks for the great report.   I love the idea of going down the lynch and up the Daniels.

1776 ed!! I want to check the records on that!

ah, ye of little faith...

Scatter creek was manageable. I passed it in my Audi. There were multiple Prius's at the trail head. I figure if they can make it, just about anyone can!
A couple more photos:
Thank you for the timely report - you guys nailed it.
How was the ford of Scatter creek (or is it Skeeter)?  Pasable in Camry?
Good to meet you, Mike.  Jealous of and impressed by your one day solo mission!
Pretty sure I saw you guys while I was on my way down hyas! Awesome turns!
I found the Inter fairly slushy this same day, even at midmorning.  What time did you top out?
A guy takes a day off, and get's 1776 ed!! I want to check the records on that!  Nice!
Nice!

They look like classic Wolverine for sure.

I took these pictures a week before near Daniels, I fiddled with them trying to make them more visible, but they are still hard to tell for sure, but where they were, makes me think they could be Wolverine as well.

On a trip a few years ago near Spider gap I cut a very fresh track and was sure I would see the maker, but it did not happen, yet another good reason to spend time up there!

Thanks for the fun times! Here are a couple of photos of you doing your weird two stick thing.
Nice report and pics.  Van Trump is a great place to go "hiking with skis".
