He's on AT gear now, too. :)
Dang it. I'm outed! Don't hate me, my tele brethren. But my knees are thanking me. I think would have enjoyed the heavy snow more with my tele gear, though. Or some Alpine lessons.
Thanks for a great trip, Bryan!

Glad to learn that Don's knees haven't rusted out entirely yet!
At least the trail is nice...

Awesome Kyle!
We've seen you work at this dream for years and it's great to see how it's been paying off.
Thanks for sending home some stoke; keep it coming!

Yes. Looks awesome, man.
The motherland!
How'd you get in there? Fly to Tromso?

Great video, thanks. The snow is going all too fast.
Fun video! Pretty bold skiing. Second string on one foot makes it better.
Thanks for the report - that was a good read. The turns on the WyEast Face looked sublime! Also, great to hear a candid report of how things went wrong on the attempted circumnavigation, and glad you made it out OK. The report is probably helpful for anyone thinking of doing the same, and a good reminder to skiers like me of why those kind of routes are above my comfort/skill range.
Indeed! Seems like you should move to Canada eh?
I watched you make those tracks down from the Gap on the 8th. It looked very good. I was digging out the weatherport platform.
2 skiers skied from the summit yesterday (15th) via the DC (but looked to have -wisely- booted down the DC proper).

Great TR, Amar! Got several insights about new places, which have not skied yet.
Jealous. I was hoping to get up there Thursday/Friday. But plans changed... and I can't complain. I ended up on the real authentic genuine Birthday Tour with Mr. Rolfs and Tackman and then a nice day of climbing on Castle Rock.
Mesahchie is in my sites.

Great to see the youngster tearing it up!

Nice - looks like a lot of fun... we are thinking alike - I had almost the same itinerary in mind for next week - don't think weather is looking that great then either, though, nor anywhere else within a reasonable drive :/
Awesome - If I have questions about Rainier you know who I ask. You need to just set up about four large igloos on the mountain at about 10k, 90 degrees apart and live up there. You might as well just sell your place in Seattle its a waste of money. In the winter you would set up lower around 6k. Sadly there is no reception for a lap top so you could give us daily TAY reports.
Sad to hear about your friends. Just make sure you do not go too big.......

Hi Kameron,
Looks like we switched destinations this past weekend, with your group going to the Goat Rocks (though using a different approach) and us going to Mesahchie. I'd say that approach via Kitling Creek was pretty straightforward, and would have been even easier with more snow. The bushwhacking is really not that bad, just a few logs and some light brush. The cornices are SCA-RY! We saw a few collapse on Saturday. When you see them from the top, they have tons of cracks o...

Btw as far as I know that is one of only a few descents down that line.
Pretty amazing trip there.
I've done both the NFRG and skied the cooper spur, and contemplated the line you skied.
Pretty extreme climbing and skiing there, it's great to see the progression in NW alpinism. Chamonix style X Oregon cascades...love it!!!

The slopes below Dome and Half Moon form the headwaters of Cedar Creek. Dome actually reminded me of the Elephant's Perch in the Sawtooth Wilderness of Idaho. The Elephant's Perch is a few times bigger, but Dome still looked impressive when you were below it.
Hi Radka, cool traverse. I imagine that cross-country route to Ragged View was challenging. Interesting to see your semi-truck cornice chunks next to the booting skier. Those were still hanging above us when we booted out of there two weeks back, and they certainly pushed me to motor up that slope.
Well played. Looks like the conditions hinted at in Norseman's photo from the prow are reality.
What an effort! Great pictures and write up. I have to figure out how to stitch photos like that. Frying pan was great on Saturday also.
wow Andy and Tom, Nice! Are you sure that second to last photo didn't come from Yosemite?
I for one would have commented, for sure! I think it's awesome to see young people enjoying the out of doors. Wonderful. She'll remember the trip for many years. Good for you guys! And the wildlife was a bonus.
Kudos! -Rob

Trip of a lifetime for some - just another weekend of Rolfing for others. Great to see the little one getting after it. I'd have given her a high five! What nice looking conditions.
Very cool, Mike. Fortunately, my kids have been forbidden from reading TYA and only have access to smut so they'll never find out what good parents are like.
Nice looking trip Ben and Mike! Alllllmost makes me wish I stayed in the Wenatchee area...
Thanks for the encouragement and advice from other grizzled skiers who have already graduated to my stage of financial being. Jamie, you'll be happy to know that I sewed up a few holes in the heels of my favorite alpaca socks just a few weeks ago. They should give me another season of life... if I avoid using them as my daily wintertime slippers around the house.
A few more pictures from the day: 1) Skiing down into the West Fork of the Cedar River 2) rock walls that include Dome...

Been off TAY for awhile. Amar I have to make a big admission to you. The best corn I ever skied was on the Saturday when you did this Turtle ski. I was on the other side of the mountain skiing the Frying Pan. I have learned a lot following the great posts from the Sultan of Rainier. Like your corn my corn was truly delectable. It has something to do I believe with the cool winds and breeze. Good corn needs light freezes at night is my belief.
Great tour you guys, nice to hear you had good snow, that decent to the Twisp is one I have eyed before, looks like a dandy. I don't think you should throw away those holey socks away just yet, the sucking sound in your saving account might slow down, but it's not likely to stop for awhile.
Sounds like an interesting tour. Congratulations on your newly earned discretionary income, our youngest one just graduated last Dec, and I'm now on a new pair!
You can park right on the side of the road at the trail or in the lot for Devil's Lake, which is off the road and will probably have people camping nearby by that time. It's a short walk to campsites on the lake, pretty much car camping. TH break-in risk in the area is pretty low in general.
Nice report, Will.
Bummer about the forgotten skins, but it sounds like you guys managed to make lemonade anyway! I've heard some stories about duct tape and tree limbs as stand-ins for skins. Not the best of options, of course....
Let's get out skiing soon!

Thanks for all the good vibes, everyone!
andreism, it was nice to meet you out there. Strong work on your part with the 1-day push. Thanks for telling us some goat trivia. Tristan was probably wishing he had goat toes while climbing to the summit without crampons.

Great report, thanks!!
I won't be down there next until early June--figure the snow pack will hold?
Also, since I've never seen the trailhead, how's the security for your car and possible breakins? Is the parking right at the highway and visible, or is it back a bit and kinda dodgy?
Thanks!

Awesome trip! I was checking out that couloir, it looked sweet!
Nice write-up Andy! Thanks for sharing all the details including maps and directions. I also appreciate all your work on WenatcheeOutdoors and OkanogenOutdoors. Very inspiring!
Gorgeous. The pictures make me want to revisit.
My only shot at Snowking was an aborted attempt nearly half a lifetime ago.
I no longer remember what our plan was, but it was apparently a bad plan because there are still some PTSD images of being tangled up in green (slide alder).

We ended up camping in the basin below the glacier, next to a nice stream. Our exit was back out Easy Pass, the way we'd come.
Exiting via our route back to Easy Pass would save the big elevation hits going back up to the Kitling-Cub Col and the hump up out of Fisher Creek. Not that brushy, so wouldn't be a big deal once the skis are off.
Nice Kam! Lots of fin des enseguidas para ti. Matandolo.
Great Photos! Myself, and Steven were the two other climbers you saw while skiing back to your camp! What a great peak!
Awesome work Kam! Loved the TR! Definitely putting this on the list!
