Looks like you got your bases stone ground smooth. Nice one.
Rando commando... I like it.
And yes, I was moving.

Sweet selfie, bruh. Extra points if you were actually moving during the shot. Good rando-commando style, too.
;D
Glad you found some turns. Autumn corn!

Thanks for the update!
Unbreakable ice crust around and above Pan Point can be quite scary in early season. Things might change after Thursday and Saturday storms.

Yeah!
Some legit ice-skiing up there.
I think by the end of week it will be a lot different

The current Rainier forecast is looking nice for a refresh, although it might get warm in the weekend
Thanks for the report. I'm really hoping for some freshies for OcTAYber 8)
Awesome work and beautiful mountains out there in the Andes, can't wait to see what's in the works.
It's a different playing field once above 4,000 meters. Kudos!!

Something like this...

Siiiiiiiiiiii. Es la media Loma.
That slope on Meson Alto does look sick. 6700 feet and approx 34 degrees with corn aspect!
Check it:

Looks great Drew! Thanks for the TR and the pics!
One more unique thing I thought you guys might appreciate. Check out the uniformity of the slope going from the lake at 2600m up to more than 5000m. (This is the north slope of Loma Larga's neighbor, Mesón Alto.) One passes under it when driving around the lake. A tuly notable scree field. ;D
Awesome! Been to a few of those places in the austral fall. They look much better with snow.
Still have not skied, but went up Tomyhoi yesterday and found smooth soft snow at 7k!

Was expecting the worst and found this :)
Thanks Brian for keeping my expectations low ;)

Assuming that's me! Was thinking about paradise glacier, but no rope, and low vis, and new snow kept me away on my day.
I'm heading down there tomorrow and expectations were rock bottom, now I'm getting excited. Fingers crossed for a little more snow.
Upper Paradise looked and felt Yuck! Lower skied well with nice corn. Sept. 10 conditions.

La Nina? Where you at grrrrrrrrl??
Moxie
Apparently not this winter; looks like a La Neutral/La Nada.
I remember a guy with a gun
Who shot skeets while skiing for fun
Volleys he fired while dropping the knee
till the end of a September run.
Day trip, Mike? Your turns make my turns turn green with envy.

I used the tiny snowfield just past the outhouse.
I nominate this for best TR Sept, 2016.
2nd?

...then I overwhelmed a mini-micro patch...
I almost always run out of juice before I'm able to "overwhelm" the slope. Sounds like I've been picking too big of slopes! :)
Looks like great times. Oz doesn't always get great winter snow, but when we visited in 2004 we visited a major climbing area called Mount Arapiles, and the local climbing shop closed down because the staff went off to the Australian Alps for what they said was the best snow in over 20 years.
Nice going! I'm absolutely green with envy, skiing the highest mountain in Australia, and sweet corn. Nothing better!

You know it's short when you can ski back up without skins...I used the tiny snowfield just past the outhouse.
This, my friends, is serious dedication to the sport!
Mike looks like a good ski! If you want to be a ski star you gotta quit taking Mox the wonder dog she just steals the show! nice going.......too bad Im such a lazy bugger!
I'm re-posting this wee limerick in honor of Mike's calendar-flip, and in appreciation of his quality TRs:
Here's an ode to the Turns-All-Year skier,
Who takes part in a sport some think queer.
Making runs in all seasons
Gives many good reasons
To exercise, then drink strong beer!

You guys crack me up.
108! 9 years. Nice work.

Good job Mike on 6 years---I got month 108 today. It's a ball and chain we gladly drag into the mountains.

September marks 6 years turns all year for me.
Thanks guys for letting me tag along. Smooth new snow was indeed a pleasant surprise; hopefully it will stick around for a while.

nice work Jamie. A quarter and September in the bag. Central Oregon is pretty good to you.

That you can't see the snow on the web cams is, in my opinion, by design. They used to post a webcam view from the top of Sunrise. You could see a lot more of those upper snowfields. Do you have a GPS track of your route? I was up there this weekend, and I ended up on a much longer hike that you did.
Good music selection, Ben! Those clouds were racing above the skiers and the Flett. Nice video!
Cool ski, in less PC days people would yell "fruit booter!" at you on those. A modern version is the OAC WAP 127 ski. It would take a bit of practice before trusting it on something steep.
Google Firn Skis to explore approach ski offerings over the years. Bigfoots are also used . Size 13 Wingtips with the heels removed are an option . Skied down International on them in the spring corn once in 1971. NOT recommended. =(-;(> Ride um cowboy... X
