Retro Grouch! Ha!  I am so over worrying about crossing the track,  people walking in the track, etc.  You should have barked at him for putting a skin track across a nice skiable line.  Sorry I missed you guys.  Your conditions sound WAY better than what we found at Snoqualmie.
Thanks Ed. The skies were blue for our west facing 1200' runs in 16" wind compressed but consistent powder. Hoping for more of the same today.

I said "You're missing out". There's something special about ski tips pushing through soft snow.

Best quote of the year.  Indeed
Miss the crystal BC and beers at the Elk.....soon.
experienced very similar conditions on Mt. Snoqualmie. The phantom slide path skied better than expected, open areas were best where it was wind protected. Poor bonding between new snow and ice layer.
Wow, great pics. Love the Lil-T turns. Solid effort.
First, it was brought to my attention that I misspelled Muir, thanks for pointing it out.  I apologize and it has been corrected.

Second, Big thanks to Amar for posting up the weather data, really cool to have that data to connect with the trip.  We brought a sat phone with us, but was much less concerned with overall air temps and more concerned with amount of precip and cloud cover.

Third, the temps.  It definitely was cold.  Alex and I had been tracking the temps lea...
Great trip and effort, nice photos! Especially this moonlight shot of the upper mountain from an unusual angle on Ingraham Glacier, a view which is rarely seen, day or night:

One thing I'm surprised you don't mention at all is the COLD: your entire trip took place during an unusually cold period in the Northwest, with temperatures wel...
Looks fabulous! Thanks for the photos!
Very nice report, and as usual, great photo's.
Inspiring trip, and great photos! Thanks for the writeup.

Day Five - Reset.  Only pictures were from the descent, and almost all those were from the Chute.  Imagine the rest of the day looking like an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper glued to your glasses ... that was the view.

We found a similar type crust on a south facing slope that day, which appeared to be a sun crust...it was not present in the shade of trees.

North facing slopes were stable, but did have a small scattered pockets of <10cm wind slab.  Mostly good, soft snow was found.
You guys are animals! Time for us to get out there together, Erik and Ethan
Hell of a trip indeed! Strong work. Pics please!
Wowza, hell of a trip. Stoked to see the pics.
Updates appreciated; I was planning on going up there Friday and curious what happened to the crystals.
Inspiring trip. Great work!
Holy smokes! I was ogling Little T from Crystal that very Friday, definitely didn't imagine anyone was up there. Congrats to both you you guys, can't imagine that mountain has seen too many December summits, nor powder descents.
Very impressive!  Looking forward to your photos!
Next time. That "luge" run is a long haul up with limited fun on the down. Not breaking a leg on one of those creek dip bridges was the best part about it.
That dramatic hoar layer was also forming above 5k at Crystal on Thurs. could be a hazard if it doesn't warm and consolidate. Lots of wind loading and scouring in Bullion and Cement on Sat.
I fumbled Avajanes message so missed him and his crew that traveled from the ski area and exited out Singing Pass trail. I started up the trail from base and traveling even slower than my usual deliberate pace was still in the trees at nearly 3PM. It was freaking cold - food and water frozen and fingers nearly numb, I reversed course and did the luge run back down and out.
Thanks for trying guys. I've touched base with a few folks who have passed the area and didn't see it, so I'm resigned to the fact that it probably slid a bit downhill which probably means it's gone.. enjoy the tour!
A few pictures from my camera:

The Slot

On the false summit
No, it was skinnable the whole way on a splitboard, minus boot to North chair, but was firm in spots between snow lk and Melakwa pass. Snowed some tiny perfect snowflakes most of the day.
Heading there tomorrow, I'll keep an eye out for it.  Where crampons required anywhere?
Nice tracks.

We skied that slope this morning, and it was oh so smooth, great choice in sniffing out the goods and thanks for doing the work to put in the skin track.
We did it today and the skin track was barely viable if at all. Didn't see your camera either, sorry. Conditions same as reported yesterday without the wall to wall sunshine.
Promised pictures...

... and bump for missing sony helmet cam. should be between snow lake and chair peak lake.... money and beers! :)
Chances of it turning up only last as long as our skintrack, but in case its helpful, our track is here

Morning light on the goods...

It was nice...
