Gato here, skinning was good from Pebble Creek.  Definitely some of the best conditions on the snowfield I've ever skied.  Ran into loads of good people, kept the fires stoked.  That crazy sunset and weather totally beat my expectations.

How has nobody mentioned the FREE BEER given to us at Muir?!!!  Thanks, Mike.  Sad to see you go but glad you're our face in Congress.
Looks pretty good considering !
I dig Brenda's hat. :)
I confess---we all hit rocks repeatedly.  We were just psyched enough that our memories blocked out the bad times.... :)
Pretty adventuresome, you guys!  I heard you were out somewhere.  Nice pictures and videos!  It's hard to believe you didn't rock your bases, judging only by looking at some of those pictures with rocks strewn about.  Compared to your trip, ours was a walk in the park... MRNP that is.
For Mack- the first slope topped out at 7,300 feet and the top of the couloir was 7,400 according to my gps track map. Looking over the topos for this area makes me want to go back really soon.

Chris
Joined the fun with Aligato and a couple of non-TAY friends.  Great to see everyone and a beautiful day on the mountain.

Kyle Miller and I were up there.  We ran into Zack(alope) and co., a familiar face, along with some others.  My high point was 9500' due to me waiting with a guest who had been brought with but got sick.  :(  However, definitely some of the best corn conditions...too bad it's June snow conditions in November.  Pics later (some sunset ones too...I agree, one of the best sunsets I have ever seen)

*Edited to spell Zack's name right...lol
We dropped just the one couloir.  Posting a tr about our weekend of turns later tonight w/ pics.  It was good pow early Friday - we started out shortly before noon.  However, you could feel the snow getting heavier and the climate warming, so by the time we dropped down, it was mank.  We climbed up to the top at 7400' (myself about 75vf below) and dropped in.  There were previous tracks and a boot pack that led about 1/3 of the way up the couloir until we had to sta...
Hey Freightrainer, send that first picture to telemarktips.com  That has coverpage rollingstone rockstar potential.
Sounds like a sweet trip!  Thanks for the info on Rogers Pass, sounds like it would be a sweet destination!  Nice huck!
Clintster was there with 2 friends. Big crowd! Here's some pics of the ascent before my battery crapped out: http://www.zoomin.com/AlbumViewV1.aspx?AlbumGuid=17e497e5-e4ed-4a7a-b40f-3598be1d1624&Type=public
Yeah Kyle, nice line selection.  I saw from the head of the valley at least one set of tracks on the upper section just below the col.  Did you get more turns elsewhere?

Surprisingly there are many routes filled in enough to ski already.  The rain Friday night didn't help the consistency any but in should consolidate nicely and be ready to receive the next round.  (rock skis may still be in order)  My thanks again to Mack and Chris for a fun trip.   Maybe next time Chris won'...

Goos show guys.

Thanks Ron, my cornice huck is not quite as spectacular as the famous " Jarvis Jump" but I'm trying! :)

For those that have never been, here's a short Rogers Pass primer.

Pass is at about 4,300 ft and in some of the most steep, spectacular avalanche terrain I have ever seen. There is a hotel at the pass called...

Goos show guys.

Goos show indeed!   ;)
(Hey Ron; do you have a link to the F U Up song you were kind enough to DJ for us at Paradise last week?)

Thanksgiving smanksgiving when there is powder to be skied within a twelve hour drive!
It's good to know that you guys found the goods in the great white north.  I was a bit worried that you might...
It was a great day to be on the snowfield! I enjoyed the spring November conditions and my boys Peter and John had a great time as well.  It was great to see that many people out who believe that turns are worth climbing for!
Good line; we saw your sluffs and some tracks.  How high did you go---to the base of the dogleg up high?  Was that the same run jpslagle TRed on from Wednesday?
We skied the couloir all the way in the back, at the head of the main drainage opposite you.
Atacomite, that was a beautiful sunset picture.  That was the most amazing sunset I've ever seen up there.  Nice to meet you up there.

What a great day - somebody called it Mayvember.  I was up there with the TAY van pool.  Representing the tele religion: Moscawulf (Brad), Stephen, Nick, Joe G and me.  And the two fallen AT angels, Silas and Brian.  I got to meet a ton of people, The Warren family from my neck of the woods, Kyle Miller, Atacomite, Freighttrainer and his family. ...
Here's a frame grab of Scotty getting some big air..... 8) and a shot Jen took of Cougar Mt.  Thomas ...Jen and I echo what Chris said....good to meet you guys....Jerry
Hey thomasgoot, welcome to TAY. Thanks for showing us that ridge above Ursus Trees. Highlight of the trip and it was fun watching you guys rip up that slope!
Rogers Pass was a revelation and although my first time there, it will not be my last.

Feel free to contact me  or JW or Jen anytime you guys are south of the border or even want to ski in the Southern Cascades or Rainier area, we'll give you a place to stay and show you our stashes!

You can contact me a skie...
Thanks for those beers in the hot tub, they didn't go unappreciated! Glad you enjoyed your turns up at Rogers this weekend. Hope your drive home went well. You didn't miss much today. As the freezing level came up the snow got heavier. We skinned up the Asulkan drainange for 2 hours and found some fun pillow lines to play on but we each stacked it at least once due to the weight of the snow hindering our jump turns. Cheers!
Nice work Don!
I couldn't go yesterday but kept the streak alive at the last moment today.
Kept the streak alive with 10 hours to spare! Nice day.
As you first got to the lake it was the first chute on the right side that was filled in.
We left about 6:00pm

We must have just missed you as we left Blue lake just after dark on friday.

We didn't get to the trailhead until 11 PM.  Where were you riding?
Snowdawg Jr. and I were there. He hit the 36 month milestone today. Great day!
We must have just missed you as we left Blue lake just after dark on friday.
We were there (me, son Zach, Zach's friend Jay).  It was a long walk to skiing, but the skiing there was turned out to be pretty nice.  And the views were spectacular - what a sunset!
Jw, Jen and I are sitting on the ferry on the way back from Canada watching your videos. Nice work and surprisingly good conditions. Good call. Hopefully with some more snow we can hit it again next week!
Nice to see you shooting some vid there Chris! Way to get after what's out there.
i get Labyrinthitis after a head cold or sinus infection.  Luckly I've never had it on a climb because I react just as you did.
Lots of folks on the mountain today. Sweet corn cruising midway down the snowfield. Beautiful sunrise and sunset.
Count  Skinut, GVogt and Robie as official watchers .We hiked down to the nisqually moraine and back up . We inspected Rusty Knees and friends gear before he left the lot.
Present, as was Rickster and Patri.  Beautiful day on the mountain!   8)
Nice work Chris and others!  :)
wise words! to quote Hunter S. Thompson, "this mission calls for true grit, and we are chock full of that".....
Nice going JW, Jenn, et al.
Thanks, both!
A few more pix are here.
Way to make the best of it,  I enjoyed the chute video of Joe.
What Mack forgot to mention was that it was an awesome day out! We came in with minimal expectations and came out fully satiated.

This was month 12 for me of a first full TAY.  Fred R and I  went with Carsten, who hooked up with us on TAY partners wanted, for his first earned turns in Washington, and he really picked a day and route to earn them.

Welcome to the "club".
Sounds like a good trip. You didn't miss anything here it's still raining :'(

After leaving the cabin around 11:30, we drove up the upper parking lot. There was 30 or more vehicles there and perhaps several dozen more around the lodge. There must have been a lot of wet people traveling down the road this afternoon. The forecast was for improving conditions after late morning, but it actual got worse. We could see Shuksan from the Mountaineers cabin after breakfast and it appeared that the drizzle was going to stop. However, the downpour around noon convinced us that we migh...
author=Telemon link=topic=11341.msg47069#msg47069 date=1228011433]It just didn't look to be worth the effort to ski today

It probably wasn't, but we did anyway. Skinned up the Artist Point road in rain that varied between a heavy drizzle and a light piss, then veered back into the ski area when we saw how thin the coverage was. Skied back to the lodge on barely covered in-bounds runs without major ski damage, and didn't see  B...
Way to get some,  Wafflehound.  Everyone's determination and anxiousness is impressive and encouraging.

I may post for partners for wednesday if we get a leetle more base mon-tues.

I'm thinkin' Rock Mtn (semi-ambitious) or perhaps just Skyline (likely more practical).
