OK, I would like some details! 34 miles round trip is way too far to carry your boots but way too far to wear them as well. Which was it and what do your feet look like now?
I think the pack animal might be the way to go (not being an animal person though, this is pure conjecture - they don't run on camping fuel and 2 stroke oil do they?).
Did you happen to get a card from the wrangler girl with the 4 sets of boards?

That was unexpected compared to Saturday. That is a lot of smoke.
freightrainer, that photo of your daughter looks like a science experiment. That is crazy.
Good one!
Finally skied and climbed that route with my brother for my August ski turns....

The buzzing (clicking) in my ski tips and then my poles while they were on my pack at the top of the Roman Wall said it was time to get down fast. Luckily no lightning ever came. I have heard of it, but that was the first time I have experienced it.
We were on Mt. Washington a few years ago. Lightning and thunder were 12-20 miles away but at the summit the static electricity was almost painful. Photo of my daughter with her pigtail el...
Nice - I wish I'd called Dan - it would have been good to hookup with you guys. We skied Diamond yesterday and it was great. I'll post a TR tonight if I get some time.....
Way to go Kyle!
I had a Jack/Crater trip planned this year, but May just sucked. It just sucked.
Glad you got out there, it doesn't seem like many people have slid around in that area...
Next year, eh?

Car shuttling in August---I just love this place 8)
Takin' the skis for a hike again, eh?
Telemon is smiling from above. This happens to be the same area in which Telemon, a friend, and I skied last year. He was so gracious, fun, and loved every minute of our ski in the Table mountain area. He is missed. His glass was always half full.

haha i had this happen to me on both red mt. and on mt. stuart. on stuart it was quite loud my partner's long hair was sticking out from under his helmet and straight up in the air. we ran away quickly.....
I would love to participate in this discussion but for the life of me I can't seem to find a good rhyme with "doggerel." (If I used emoticons a smiley face would be here.)
Now Mack, if you're done taking your skis for a walk, let's go climbing!

The snow on July 31st was great and the visibility held! The rain wasn't even that bad. Kept things interesting.

Looking down the Roman Wall at falling SNOW, 12:40pm on July 31.
Bring it.
Tomorrow will be 2m 39s shorter.
I'm definitely going back again next season, but plan to go earlier and stay longer. My two days that late only gave me a taste of Glacier Peak. Beautiful area that deserves more like a week with the skis.
a couple weeks out of date (July 17/18), but if folks are interested in pics of skiing the Gerdine/Cool route on Glacier -

Wanting to head out and get my July turns I decided to head into the North Cascades for a relatively easy hike to some small patches of snow. I tried to come up with a ratio of the most hiking for the least amount of turns so I came up with the genius idea of heading to Crater Mountain.

Since you were the one there ... doesn't this make you the metaphorical drunk person at the bar?
Carry on.

Cheers!
Cheers!
Good one!
Was up there from the 26-28, skied from the summit on 27. Skied disappointment, then on the last day skied White mountain.
What a beautiful area ,man is it a long walk with skis, but well worth it....
I saw one skier as I was climbing the gap towards the summit, maybe it was you.

Thanks for the report. Think it will still be holding up in 1/2-1-1/2 weeks? What about crossing the Whitman Crest?
I'm no good at prognosticating suncup formation, but otherwise it sure seems to me like it's good for two weeks or more. I was tempted to save this trip for August myself, but got itchy.

No Serac just a cornice on the narrower section of the upper ridge. Just not paying to much attention when writing the caption. Thanks for catching this.
Forgot to mention... There was a guy we passed on the hwy leaving Baker (which I labeled in our pics as the "Bad Ass Cascade Ski Machine" hauling his skis & gear behind his road bicycle on a trailer. Shot the breeze just for 10 seconds as we passed but didn't get his (your) name. Nice to meet you!
Nice Matt, hope you get some decent riding. I'll be on Baker Saturday and Sunday.
Looks like fun - snow is still holding up well on the dome. Heading into Bear Cr. on Diamond on Saturday afternoon for some Sunday riding if you're interested Buell.

Up and down the volcanoes he styles
First it’s ski pons a gripping
Then skins off and ripping
Hours of grunts, and then minutes of smiles
