Thanks for the report from your part of the world Sky.  Good to see that Ryan is recovering from the cold from hell.  That dry continental air will dry out the lungs, eh....
That is a killer day in the saddle right there.  Nice work capturing it on video and creating the movie too!

It’s just like surfing in Hawaii.  Nobody cares if you quietly come to their stash and shred like a local, but if you flail around and tell everyone in the world how rad the waves are there somebody’s gonna get pissed.

No, it's not like surfing in Hawaii. At all. Waves at a crowded break with aggro locals are a limited resource. Pow in the Cascades is an unli...
That's a  seriously lovely bit of video. Really looks like a blast. Well played.
- no problem,  check out shasta avalanche center for updated conditions
Thanks for the quick update on conditions.  I've been wondering how the snowpack was doing, after the lack of early and mid-season snow in California.  Planning a trip down to Shasta in about a month, hoping there'll be coverage good for a lot of skiing, and not a lot of hiking :)

Nice to meet you, Ale.  And thanks a bunch for the ride.  It really made our night.  Hope to see you out there again somewhere.

Did the snowmobiles stick to lower elevations?  Were they near your ski route?  With the mixed use, I'm wondering how much of a wilderness experience you had as you got higher up the mountain.

Thanks for the report.  I'm hoping to make it up there soon.

Cheers.

They're always after me lucky charms!!!

I'm pretty sure that's the Ruby Repeater that the park service uses that you're standing on.  Just putting it out there.

Also, after living just a few miles down the road from Ruby for a bit, I would agree with Lowell.  The North Cascades is a beautiful place and it breaks my he...
Nice trips and pics all of you!

Sorry I missed your invite G. Thanks though! hopefully next time...

Matt and Scott?.... hmmmm. wonder what them two where up too....?
I suspected that's what "I'm in Whistler" meant.  Nice job, gang!  I would put Stonecrop on my top 10 lifetime pow runs list as well.

wondering if it was Friday?

Longtime lurker first time poster. Signed up yesterday I believe.  I'll start off by saying thank you to all the people who post on here providing a wealth of information and stoke!

We hit Chikamin on saturday and were pleasantly surprised by the dry pow up top and velvet snow down low. We made the long ha...
Right, I recognized after asking.  SO much snow!  Alisa, I think we were east of Maggie's.  I had completely forgotten that blast from the past.

How come these Olympic locals get so many photos of me topless in the snow?
Maybe that's why people keep telling me to "keep your shirt on"?  ::)
Great trip Dave and others!! Thanks for sharing the stoke for an area I have wanted to venture for some time now. Damn school is getting in the way all too often this past year.

11.5 hours car to car, that is some quick shuffling on the skis my friend, but of course not much for you. Glad you all had stellar conditions to boot!
You guys are awesome! What a fantastic trip. Glad you had fun.
Jake, thanks for the link to the pictures, so great to see Victor in front of the camera for a change.
Victor, that's a pretty nice blue jacket you're wearing ;)
A piccy of the festivities.

GIDDYUP!

That is a north bowl off the western Mt Angeles ridge. We parked at one of the turn outs ~ 3 miles before you get to Hurricaine Ridge and started climbing. Mac, I think we climbed the approach with CW and a teenager named Micheal from the climbing gym about five years ago.

oops, that is the east Mt Angeles ridge.
that is a pretty funny picture Mac...

Found a camp and tracks from a group of 3 from possibly Saturday.

wondering if it was Friday?  that at least would explain what I was beginning to think were auditory hallucinations...  dogs too?  so close at one point that I stopped and waited and yelled "hello!"  nothing.  maybe I was hallucinating...

Where is this spot?  Big cliffs; can't be too far from the Ridge.  I promise not to tell Victor...?

To expand a little on Alisa's response to your question, it is almost exactly where you made this most excellent snow angel last May.  8)

Your friends in PA
Sweet trip - Thanks for sharing all of those tasty images - Way to get after it
What a great trip, made all the better by traveling light and fast and polishing it off in one sun filled day, nice!

Awesome trip you two! Lots of style points for sure
Nice work you guys.  I know Becky enjoyed that poutine.
Nice work!  Might be heading up that way within the coming days.  Look's like temps are staying somewhat cold.  Curious what we'll find.  Thanks for the TR!

Yea, I was wondering the same thing.  Looks like it is still great up there.  I need to get out.

Thanks for sharing.
A few more pics.

1.  Gregg & Jenni booting near the top of Joffre, Matier in background
2.  Skinning up the N face of Matier with Joffre in background
3.  Looking back at the N aspect of Matier from Slalok
Great tour you guys!  Have skied those in pieces, in one day is a good grunt.    Looks like stellar weather for it.
Great day in the mountains with the Washington crew. Aussie couloir was a challenge. We nailed the N facing slopes.

I would have to agree Slalok stonecrop face is one of the best ski lines on the duffey. Ski touring to a heli ski run.
now thats a big day!  nice work y'all.
I think the north facing powder tour would be the north faces of Matier to Slalok to Taylor with a finishing run on Heart Strings to get back to the car.

Excellent effort and trip report.
Curious whether you saw evidence of any big slides (10-15’ crowns) that seem common in the Baker bc and other places (Whitehorse)? Your pictures don’t seem to show any.

Thanks!

We actually so no evidence of any slab activity 15 foot or otherwise. on E S & W facing aspects we saw point releases that turned into...
Ha, gunning for the fattest thread of the month....

Anyway, here are my photos, hope it works.

Also Ale, Hillmap says it was only 13 miles all the way from the car to the E Arm of Chaval over the Snowking summit, so it was about 26 miles, next time....

Sweet! Got to get up there one of these days. Beautiful area!

Make it happen, it's totally worth it! I thought the tour was more fun than the spearhead when I did it last year (though the deproach was a bit more painful than the singing pass trail). Feel free (anyone) to PM me if you want beta.
Beautiful.

It's been way too long since I was up Snowking and your pictures make me want to go back again. I also like this one from your Picasa site:

Superbly done! That is a big day, I like the idea of a hotel with room service and a hot tub for recovery. Congrats!
Nicely done gentlemen! Nice of Ari to lend you his rig should you need to bushwack with the car.

Interesting tracks of the cat. I once saw a large mountain lion while returning from a solo ski of Shuksan's Sulfide Easter 2000. I was scared stiff because I knew when they see one person they think 'meal' whereas when they see two or more they think 'herd', so I have been told. Fortunately he was well ahead of me and never saw me.

Thanks for sharing...
Great photos!  Thanks for the report.

so many awesome pix .. but i esp love this last one #59

Dittos!

The way to avoid that freaky ramp would be to approach from the West, via Betty's Jugs, which seems a shorter route than yours but of course you woudn't get to ski Snowking.

Fantastic effort, gentlemen.
