What a beautiful start to the new year.  Atomic and I had a lovely day up on Skyline ridge.  It was a crisp start to the morning, which made us appreciate the warmth of the sun all the more.

We saw mostly snowshoers today, only a few pairs of skiers.  Though parts of the ridge are quite tracked out, we were pleased to still find some excellent untracked light powder on the north side of the ridge, maybe ~8" over firmer snow.

Stability was good.  We didn't see much residual wind-loading, and did not experience any of the potential instability in the upper snowpack that NWAC has been mentioning.  The only avalanche activity we saw was debris from old loose slides - clearly not recent.  There were a fair number of rollers (probably off of trees) on the north slopes, but we didn't see any evidence of their triggering any slides.

Surface hoar is, unsurprisingly, growing well.

Nice surface hoar.

What Atomic are you skiing.

Not Atomic skis, rather Atomic the TAY user. :)

Doesn't Atomic ski on the Atomic Century?

I ski on centurys.. the first ones!

It was a beautiful day, with lots of shutter delay to try out my new fisheye lens!

Great pic of the surface hoar
