Today Mark and I followed your track out of the basin after skiing the west Twin, John. You were spot on about the sluffs - it looked like everything that was going to point release had already done so. The snow had softened somewhat by 11:00 am, allowing reasonable edge and skin purchase. I'd guess perhaps only 5% of your uptrack had new sluff covering it. Also as you said, lots and...

We checked the south and treed aspects over by Kendall Lakes.  Excellent on bombed out powder in the trees and slightly wetter near the ridge.  The clear cut lower down skied exceptionally well on our return.  Great day overall.

Yeah, how about that!  The clearcut was bulletproof freeze when we went through.  Figured it would be good corn if someone tim...

Nice photograhy.
It was one of those special days for photography

John - Nice report.  From the looks of your photos, you did a little better than we did.  We were looking for North facing slopes, but found what we suspected - wind hammered slopes from the stiff northerly winds from the prior day, but it was still the best snow of the day because everything else new was highly sun affected with up to 2" breakable crust until the sun came out.  We toured over the top of Snoqualmie and dropped into the Crooked.  There was about 6-9"...
Thanks for the detailed report. Sounds like the criteria for decent snow is pretty limited right now.
It is great to get out on your birthday Steezer (or any sunny day).

I was in the two person group that toured over to Herman’s true summit that you mentioned and wanted to emphasize the conditions you described on top of Mazama Dome on Monday.

...we were not too worried about stability today.

...we came to the ridge we noticed fresh cornice...
Thanks for the info. The crust you accurately forecast at the pass turned to refried beans once the fog lifted and the sun licked it. One could choose runs with their desired flavor and density of heavy schnoo much like a slurpee machine by timing its exposure.
Ha thanks for the shout out...I'll take credit for the exit ordeal- like I said I hadn't exited how I described...just saw tracks- gotta be good!
- looks like it's getting warmer,  same down here in the Sierra's.
I like it! I'd always heard that run off Red 3 called the "Hollywood Shot", but either way, it's a super fun line.
Another great shot of the Grenedier Range!  Looks like awesome terrain what you were skiing!
Stefan top of first run

Stefan's in there somewhere

We need a yurt!  What fun.  Lol, linda
super cool video per usual Carl.  You guys were ripping.

Glad you, Silas and the crew got the goods, plus the sunshine.  Wow!

right on!

Keep the videos coming bird man.
Nice report---what you saw and decided was palpable.
So 8) that you had blue skies while we got snowing and blowing at Stevens that day.
I was up there a few weeks ago. A unique and very cool place for sure.
Looks like a sweet place to ride!

There's the video. kinda weird the way youtube fixed the shaky but its all good
Great video. Thanks for posting.
Your TR's are always well written, and enticing to the average soul! This one is no less satisfying. I visited Rock long before I ever began as a ski tourere, and it's always seemed a great objective. For you, though, seeing it as a launching pad does not surprise me.

An obscure question: Were you able to see/identify Mt. David, North of Lake Wenatchee? That's a place I'd like to get into during the early summer months, and pretty sure doesn't see many ski tra...
This can't go another minute without a reply!  Way to go find it Erin, Chris, and Forest. Sounds like you had the shot at good snow on the variety of aspects, eh?

I've always balked at the cumulative vertical of this one but I think it is time to try!  How about some pics?
That last picture is great... defines my description of a good time.

Hey...

when we were heading up I almost expected to run into you since it was my first time there not breaking trail, was wondering who was up ahead, turned out to be Tyler, Brian, Ben who went left while we went right - - -
yep, no go: wind blasted and holding fog. sounds like things have hardened some...
Hey that looks familar! I was wondering whos tracks those were that i saw today. I was booting up your second run today and was wishing for crampons. No go on the other side of your first run?

I take lots of pictures of my tracks too. "Love the one you're with!"
Looked like fun video. I've only been up there in the summer.
Nice! It was interesting to see the extra run.  The boot back out looked tough, but well worth it I'm sure.
Some video from the day...

Nice.......jealous!
Looks like some great terrain and conditions!
Good meeting you out there cumulus!  Also good to see you got some good turns as well.  Unexpected blower is my favorite type I think.

Quoted for truth.  Super fun sleeper pow day indeed.

Sounds great Silas, glad you got the goods as well as the visibility that was absent on Sunday!

Unfortunately knee pain kept me from summiting, but the youngsters reported fine conditions all the way with a bit of care, and did some extra laps.

Sorry to here about the knee pain Silas, too much lift served for you.
Thanks for the Beta Chris.

Fun to meet you and follow your out track.  It got exciting but skied well!  :)

alright! good to meet you too S (not C...I presume) - that was a fun line. Eyed it from the opposite end of the Commonwealth a while back, first time down for us too
...welcome to TAY!

We were out at 6am this morning and found great conditions away from the obvious ice chunks from avalanche cycle.  At 8:30 the East winds were picking up on the ridgetop and we bailed on a short ridge from col to summit due to wind slab formation.  We ski cut the top with nothing but our 1st skier when starting his descent did release a 6" windslab which was only 15 ft wide and ran a few...

I've had a great time on every CPC trip I've been on - a cat trip and several weekends of self-guided fun.  They've got a great setup and Ryan and Jay are top-notch.  Awesome to see that Tele is still the head canine too.
Nice write-up, Jamie.  I agree that this was a great back-door adventure and I hope to repeat the experience.  High value and we got treated like we were A-listers.  I have a little bit of video from the weekend.  Funny about the photo below because shortly after or before this shot, there was a head-over crash that is uncharacteristic of my wife.  It got a fun curse out of me and I happen to catch it on film, so enjoy:

CPC is great!  Twice we've had to reschedule due to less than desirable snow conditions and Ryan's attitude is all about the skier's experience and not about revenue.  He won't take your money unless he's satisfied that you'll have a great time.  And, no, I don't work there..
Gotta go to know! Didn't go, glad for the know! :).
Yeah, Red was awesome (in the Snoqualmie area) - expected nothing after the warm weather and rain... but got some of the best skiing this year. Thank you to the threesome who blazed the trail.
