Awesome...  Here's one of you two before dropping into the NW Couloir.. what a day you guys all had

full size pic
I think those dots on top of the North Face are Pat and I. We took a couple turns into the north face and found wind affected snow that appeared to persist for at least the first third of the line. We aborted and dropped in on the NW Couloir and found plenty of fresh tracks (despite several parties skiing it before us) and awesome snow!

The traverse was hard underneath but there was a track already in place that made it a breeze.
Mack, You've got to bring your camera for some of your ONP or are you still keeping it secret.  ;)
Definitely one of the classic tours in the Olympics. Glad to see that you got to enjoy some turns along the way, there is some great terrain along this route.

Jan and I did this as a one day trip a couple of years ago, it was a busy day............  ;)

Mack!  Nice to see you getting out  ;)

It's been too long, we need to tour.  Just returned from a week of skiing in UT.  ONP has maintained some great conditions this year.  Sounds like you had quite the adventure  ;D
One must go to far off places when in search of the ultimate trap crust.
Ian, those pictures do not make me green with envy, but I'll take your word for it, that the skiing was good!  And given your skill, your idea of good might not be the same for me!

I have been in the doldrums, not getting out for anything too interesting.
Excellent!  I've been dreaming of that one.  I agree... the terrain in ONP is simply amazing.
Great trip report Kyle! Thanks for being comprehensive in your report. And great photos Ben! Looking forward to seeing everyone and some more amazing photos at the slide show.
Great TR, looks like some fun riding/skiing going on there.
We met you guys at the Gold creek trailhead. Thanks for giving my friend a ride back to our car at Alpental! As to hiking back up silver, I think you made a safe call, further up valley we saw and heard evidence of some recent and large wet slides. Gold creek kind of sucks, but in those conditions it was way safer than being up high.

Also, to whatever massive group put the ridiculous skin track the entire way up gold creek to Chickamin peak - I think we owe you a few beers. You'...
Way to take advantage of a nice weather window!
Nice navigational skills! Stunning scenery thanks for sharing!
Nice shot of the chute under the lodge. I always wondered if that chute would ski during the winter. Wish I could make it to the tractor for that presentation.
Great job boys!

Osceola Peak, Lago, Carru

funny, that's what I was thinking when I clicked on this TR... they hold minimal dry appeal, but a lot of snow appeal to me... Hard to time with Hart's Pass opening, would pretty much need snowmobile assist it seems.

Osceola, that Black Drink Singer Seminole Indian chief really gets around...

thanks for the TR!
Nice shots. You can see tracks going into the NW Couloir too.
what a rad weekend!

i'm still blown away by what perfect weather and snow we had for covering all that ground.  good times, good folks, and good photos!  i think i can dig up a few more that haven't been posted here yet.

here's one while i'm at it.... kyle skins by some gnar on the carbon glacier:

.
Great trip, beautiful photos.  Now think about another Osceola traverse:  Slate Pass --> Osceola Peak, Lago, Carru?  40 miles  13,700 elevation gain 3 days  See http://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7994119 and other reports for the dry version.
Yeah!! Great TR! Thanks for sharing!
Outstanding ! Once again proving that one doesn't have to go far to go far !
Nice one!

southcentralcascadesrules4life!!!
Wow, really impressive and inspiring. Nice work!
Nice work guys, sorry I missed it!
We were the 5 person party out front.  I really can't imagine getting better conditions for this tour.  Although now this rig is a trade route, with good reason, it is a really stellar outing!
sweet tour.  i've enjoyed that slope, but didn't know it had a name.
sounds like you guys did a large-scale circumnavigation of Mt Snoqualmie!
good timing on conditions, and you guys took some great photos.  compelled to add it to the list.  hope we get a late-inning surge from ma nature this month.
My question is why are all these skiers trampling over dogs?  ;)

Mastiff vs. Masiff

What does YARHMTR stand for?

Yet another Rock-Howard-Mastiff trip report.   ;)
A great day to be out & surprisingly good snow quality from the looks of your photos. Thanks for the beta on the N ridge sneak lines. Good to know.
Nice photos! I love the shot of all the parallel tracks coming off the summit. What does YARHMTR stand for?
Ideal travel and ski conditions, bumper to bumper. Still cool enough to ski like winter but the sun angle felt a bit like spring. A few landscapes for inspiration. Great tour!

Saturday was all time as well. We enjoyed four laps of untracked goodness despite the "crowds".

We saw "you" through binoculars from Paradise, coming down.  Nice!
I skied Pan Face, glorious day, Sun softened snow, the Drifters kept me up on top of the thin sun crust.  It was one of those perfect days.  I talked to a guy who...
Way to get it midweek.  I think we saw the remnants of your skin track out after skiing the mid-week storm refreshed Holy Diver on Saturday.  The rocks had shed a lot of snow along the edges, but the middle was sweet.  Cold pow with the occasional face shot in the steeper portion up top, then nice cruising pow in the mellow part to the creek.  The ski down to Snow Lake was not pretty, the ski down to Source Lake was pure survival skiing.

Thanks guys - clock change made me miss the ride Argh!  I guess I didn't miss much.

Skied Timberline today with my son.  Started off just fine under cloudy skies and soft snow.  By 3:30PM we were completely soaked from the rain.  The entire upper mountain was socked in for the majority of the day.  Looks like you owe the time change one.

Yesterd...
two pole taps... and a great show bird man.

thanks!
Thanks for the up track, You certainly put it in the right place for this geezer.

Nice trench..  Great use of light.  First in line at the gate?

Thanks!  Gate was open when we drove through  :)
Great Day! Miss the PNW already
Nice trench..  Great use of light.  First in line at the gate?
The road and parking lots were indeed crazy full yesterday with climbers and snowmobilers. At 7:30 there were 3 cars stuck, blocking the road.  Counted about 70 on the route. Was really surprised how many were still headed after 3pm. Lots of fun being had.

the early morning crowd established a good boot track east of the usual route, splitting right to avoid the steep slope above chocolate falls then onto the ridge parallel to the regular route, the east up the apron onto the nex...
Great trip and the photo is fantastic.  ;)
Nice. I was expecting that one or both of you would be on here. glad to be meet you. It was probably a good idea not to drop onto the N side of Mazama based on your information then. That N aspect was crazy.

And to think I was disappointed about not skiing it. SouthSide was SafeSide.

Cheers

PS Solidarity on rockin the manaslu setup
Newton today: Skied surprisingly well given my expectations.  Grabby to light breakable crust to pow in the trees on the right aspects.  Skin track on the approach will be solid ice in the am if the sun doesn't come out. Seemed like things low were getting Corny by 11-12. Higher stuff severely wind hammered. Slurpee conditions around 230-3 on the exit.
Left the White River Sno Park about 9AM.  A pretty leisurely day enjoying the sun had us at the top of the face between White River and Skylar bowl about 1PM.  Conditions on the face were variable with ice, windblown, and soft snow.  It skied well enough but you had to be on your toes.  We did not encounter any crust, but I think that will change for tomorrow.  On the way out, the South facing slope next to to the center moraine skied the best, but mostly because it was consistent mash potatoes,...
