Superbe couloir Forrest! Bravo, cela fait envie. A+ (and that's not a grade).
It's Naked Lunch in the mountains.................................love it
Excellent, now we've got the onslaught out of the way, the conjecture..................................................:
I think that: we walk to GOldmeyer (4 Miles) and skinned from there (3 miles to DMGTH)
One could bicycle to Goldmeyer if you're good on a bike in snow or you've got a Pugsley.
I did skin to GOldmeyer 6 weeks ago, the coverage is almost continuous but it seems easier to hoof it as folks do bootpack to the springs all the time.

Et pour le plaisir...And it is just in our backyard :)
No mention of bushwhacking...I guess it did not happen, might have been sleeping and woke up just in time to take a few pictures. As Jake warned...attention danger offensive photographique
thanks for reminding me how flavorful envy can taste.
Nice one Forest!
Nice one Forest!
What an amazing trip it was! It is such a pity to travel across some of the most incredible terrain the North Cascades has to offer and merely use my phone to take photos. But, nevertheless, it was hard to take a bad shot.
Excellent! This traverse is just...incredible. Truly one of my favorites. That awesome cooler you mention is one I have wanted to go back and ski, assuming it's the one I am thinking of. It exits on to the lower section of the McAllister glacier, below the main icefall, is that right? When I did this traverse years ago, we made the mistake of going north to south and instead sucked up a soul-crushing boot up that monster. The entire time I was kicking myself, thinking of how much better it...

I'm tired just reading the trip. A great trip with perfect timing. ;)
Me too. Well done!!
I'm glad you got after it, Greg! I know you've been keen on that for some time. I wonder how long before it starts to seem like a good idea again...
Decisively Outstanding!!! Lots of miles on a bum knee. Well done y'all.
Looking forward to seeing the Frenchman's photos.
I wish you wrote more Jake. Great stuff!
Inside joke warning: where's the painter's pole?

Looks like a great tour with awsome conditions! I have been wanting to get over to the Tatoosh for a while now. Where do you start skinning from to get over there, Narada Falls? Also, my wife is new to skinning, she has only been out a few times on pretty mellow terrain. Are there any easier routes over there that she would be able to handle? Thanks for any info in advance!
I concur good conditions on saturday, were going to stay the night but bailed due to potential for suncrust.
may have spoken to a few of ya, I was sporting some hojis

nice one you two!
so were we on our line, even got semi-scientific about it: yep, big chunks of slabs before a steep rollover sealed our retreat -

glorious...

10 a.m. - kinda spooked by entrance to Crooked

funny, we were on the other side of the creek that day...
there's at least at least one potentially skiable line on N(W). Lemah---burly and beautiful:
Interesting approach... that's a looong road hike, or could you use bikes? Was part of it skinnable?

Cool trip. Thanks for all the detailed information and the great photos. They make me really wish I were out skiing instead of sitting in front of this computer!
Nice trip, I'm sure plenty others have been eyeing that! The Olympics never give it up easy.
Cool stuff Greg, and congrats for getting over there. Those are some impressive numbers you guys put up... especially for old dudes whose best years are behind them ;)
I have a similar experience wondering about that mountain after many years looking at it but never making it there. Thanks for blazing a trail and sharing.

As a mostly solo explorer, kudos to you for farming out that choice terrain! Gotta calm it down a bit (solo), but creativity and no constraints, definitely enhances not bagging the more lucrative objectives. :)

Great! I love it when the mid fork gets some attention. Believe it or not, Bessemer even appears in a handful of guide books for skiing (usually old ones). It was probably more popular with the skinny skis. If that only got you interested in the peculiarities of this terrain then look into the green ridge lake trail or Dingford. Plenty of miserable approaches for marginal gains but also some uni...
Saturday also did not suck:

We started by skinning up to 6370' to the top of a Northwest aspect of the peak that sits between The Castle and Unicorn Peak (not sure of its name). Here is a view of it from The Castle:
Foss peak .It seems you crossed all you T's and dotted all your I's. That's a nice tour.
almost changed out tour plans on Saturday when we skinned by the slot and saw no one had hopped in it yet...we figured someone would be along shortly and get some tracks in it. Looks like y'all had a good time.
That looked like a lot if fun. Nice Video!

Wow. Hope the skier heals well. That's quite a video. Big thank yous to the dispatch, patrol, rescue, and medical folks involved.
Hey thanks, my wife and I put in that track. Then went for the NE side of McCausland and out the gap. Fun day.

We saw a rescue-looking helicopter head north from I-90 over ~Low/Granite and continue northward out of sight at perhaps 11 am.
Anyone have an associated story? I'd like to think that they were out enjoying the beautiful day!

That was my group of three. Glad someone else could make use of our skin track. The middlefork descent is pretty awesome, but that climb out seems like it never ends. Kevin
Thanks! Definitely a long slog out, but made much easier by your track.

Did you all hit the north slopes east of Crooked or something else?
Thanks,
John
Disregard! I see the pics, thanks Charlie
Also, if this is of you (group of two dropping from Chair Peak Lake at ~2:50 pm) - give a yell via email/PM; I've got more photos.

Were you the group ahead of us that skied down towards the MFK to ~2900' and back out Thunder Creek? If so, thanks for the track out!
We skied the same route yesterday (3/24) minus dropping off the backside. Indeed, S facing exposed faces were covered in a knee busting wind crust 2-3" deep. Virtually unskiable. Lots of hardened slide debris in the open fields near the crest. Snowpack felt stable. Once we dropped into the NW facing trees in line with the PCT, the skiing was incredible.
Looks great. Where is Crooked? Still trying to map out the place-names. Thanks!
