All the 15 other folks we encountered seemed to be having fun
Fun indeed, thanks for setting a nice skin track for the out!
Stunning photos. Mighty nice coup on a spectacular line!
Susan, Eddie, and I rambled all over near the Pass, covering all aspects except E, on an exploratory tour for WAC outings next week. Spent most of our time between 4.2 and 5.4k. Best snow on open slopes, but quite good in the trees above 4k. Let conditions and stoke guide the ramble; found ourselves at the car 8-9 hours after we left.
Snow mostly inspired confidence - better-than-average bond to the crust nigh everywhere. Rightside up snow, unless topped with 1-3" very soft wind...

My party skied there this afternoon, we started out from the parking lot at 11am and reached a high point of 5700 ft a little after noon. We headed up the S side of Herman and experienced the same conditions: chalky powder (1-3 inches) on top of a pretty solid crust. We only experienced one area of any fracture propagation, at about 5000 feet on a south facing slope (believed to be very isolated to this one area); no other areas showed much propagation at all. We skied S and S...

Did you have any problem catching the right turn to go up the correct drainage that led to the lakes and Sparkplug?

I'm impressed, John. That thing leaves the road and just climbs! Very nice long open powder runs. I've already gotten it mapped out! Basically 1,000 per mile. Lots of snow in that area.
And if anyone would like to hang with 11 of the finest BC travelers, learn huge amounts of ski mountaineering lore and sweat off your coach potato layer, I couldn't recommend a better course than the AMGA Ski Guide Course (http://amga.com/programs/ski_SGC.php). Certainly world class training.
On another note, anyone know the origins of this photo? Extra snaps if you can guess where it's from.

Like NWAC predicted, it was a good day to be in the mountains.
Hmmm, I better change that date or I'll get a lot of time travellers mixed up!
Original date mistake was Feb 27 shoould have read 17th

Awesome! Skiing that in sunset powder last year made for a lasting memory.
How was your route up through the gully area? I remember that being a bit of a pain. I'm curious if you found a smooth route.

Cool, I'll make sure to be there next Wednesday! I'll hold you to the prediction!

So skiing at Paradise on a Wednesday is OK if you have a time-travel machine? :)
I agree. What a trip! One more on the list for me.
sweet! you guys are rockin .. seth .. your stuff is awesome!
Great pictures, great trip, that's a fantastic line!
Good choice fellas. Pretty amazing place.
Nice work! I was up there solo on friday, that must have been your groups fine skin track that I pararelled up.
Way to stick to your guns and give it your best shot .Something heroic about that!
Nice pics

Love it. I want to ski Bonanza one day. Thanks for the stoke.
Ran into some of you a week ago... good to see further fruits of your progression. Nice terrain and mixed conditions.
Huckleberries in cream sauce, one of my favorites.

Strong turns with no highbacks...crazy. Did you see santa out there?
I have (had) no idea what you're talking about... (I'm a skier yo!) so I searched, and this came up first. Totally dig the title: The Less I Have The More I Gain.
This area has been on the list for some time. I can see it needs to move to the front. Thanks for sharing a great ring of fire ski.

anyone that thinks wet slides arent a big deal have never been in a wet slide. wet slides can be a lot worse than dry/soft
I totally agree, wet means heavy, heavy means kicks you butt ;D
Awesome...nice to see some photos of that line on Copper. I gotta convince myself its worth the time and money to get there. Thanks for the inspiration to do so.
That end of the ridge is alot of fun. Strong turns with no highbacks...crazy. Did you see santa out there?
TBill getting much interenet cred on that one. Thanks for the tip. We rode the crooked and then the circus later that day on the 10th. Crooked still had good snow and the circus was untracked pow. Fun alternative to the slot.. which looked like alpental from the top. Crazy there was still snow in there...I wouldn't have believed it when i looked in.
WOW-- that is so cool! I've been hearing nothing but positve about skiing in Japan--lots of fresh to be had it seems...
Thanks for the great TR and pics.
Thanks for the great TR and pics.
That's just ridiculous. How amazingly easy to get great turns in the Wasatch. Man there is no doubt one of the best places to tour on the freakin planet..........
Great pics bro, thanks for sharing.

Mountain commute > city commute. Great pics, looks wonderful, I especially dig the shot of those wild rocks.
My friend and I skied the slot the day after this. Surprisingly good snow for having seen a weekend worth of skiers go down it. I agree, that skin track climbing back to the col truly was great. The morass of terrible skin tracks on the way up the Phantom, however, left something to be desired. It would have made a great teaching moment for how to not put in a skin track.
Great pictures. Must have been sweet to get to ski in that light snow! The only time I skied Utah was a drought year...
Sounds like you guys had a GREAT time!!! My friends and I rode Niseko this time last year, what an incredible place! the quality of the snow was absolutely insane. I've ridden lots of places in the states but I've NEVER seen anything that light... BEST EVER!
Sweet! Thanks for the memories. I take those are on the N face of Olympus? I've glissaded there coming down off winter climbs of the rock face, but I didn't have the skills to ski there on skinny skis BITD.
Well it won't be tracked out as there only 3 of us in the whole area .
Thanks gents, hoping fo rthe north side powdery snow to endure and at least the south sides should not be frozen. Sunny sky predicted, so who can complain!
