"Board and Paws" might be the photo of the year! Loved the write-up and the rest of the pics too. Nice job avoiding that skin track that kept trying to hunt you down....!
Thanks for posting this one.
We skinned up silver star creek starting about 100 yards before the gate. 4.25 hours from car to summit Col.
How far is the skin from the gate for Silver Star?
Amazing. My brother lives in Phoenix and I don't climb. Wanna trade?
Very Nice, looks like a great trip!
Looks like a great time. Thanks for posting so many pics, that really conveys how awesome you had (have) it!
Impressive journey Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Full of win right there....

congrats
Great video, Erin! And I enjoyed re-reading your report, Lowell, great photo...amazing to think of how much more challenging a traverse like this without the benefit of modern skis we all now enjoy. My stoke is high to get back and do this thing S-to-N!
That first pic. is Sweeet!!!
Great report Forest! Thanks for the great pics!

Thanks for sharing that story about your brother Lowell. What a history you 2 had in the area. I definitely have a  new must do on my list, and I will definitely be thinking of you and your brothers adventures so many years ago. Awesome!!
Here is a link to see a video of our trip.  Enjoy!

It's cool to see this trip being done in winter conditions. This looks like a great variation.

When we first did the Isolation Traverse, I thought going in winter was perhaps a mistake. But we went the wrong direction (north to south), and today you can use much wider skis.

It's kind of amazing when you look at the skis Mark Hutson is wearing in this photo from
-"Good morning Mr Capone, what can I do for you...?'

'Well doctor, it seems I'm addicted to heinously long approaches in the Enchantments, they have even put up a sign at the Bridge Creek parking lot with my name on it."

"Well mr Capone, your condition is probably incurable, but why don't you try several days fof several thousand feel of skiing in YOUR BACKYARD"

Good to see you stomping around in your backyard again....
I think your Sunday destination would have been a great Friday choice but it was hard to go wrong anywhere on Friday :)  Thanks for the post.
thanks guys! I love riding with my dog... or most any dog. Picked her name right out of the green Fred,  Mike. Seemed less likely to get her up Luna some day.

her best 20 of the day.

Josh,

Thor is peak 6804. pretty visable from stevens pass ski area. The ? peak I think is called Thor's hammer, is between Thor and Nimbus. We actuall...
Awesome pics, thanks.
Nice work Scott! some amazing terrain back there. I'm healthy again and would like to get out there again soon.
Great ski buddy with a nice line.  :)
That pic of Thor west ridge with the skin track is most provactive...
good report.. would the summer route be better now? want to go Saturday or midweek next week
Love the tracks and paws shot! Gorgeous looking area too. When i first got in to winter travel, a buddy and I snowshoed in to Glacier Lake and up to Surprise Gap. It was years ago though, and I don't know the area well. I really need to get back in there on skis! Was what you rode the east side of that ridge above Glacier Lake that has Thunder Mtn on it? I don't see Thor on the map, is it one of the points further north on the ridge, 6062, or 6356?
It is great to see you out and reporting again, Amar.
That appears to be one that one would never forget.
Nice work.
Sweet! Looks like a couple of great days up there. That ? zone looks awesome. I'm glad that kololo got her shred on too!
Great to read your report. Plus the untracked line to the bridge. As we age, it is nice to look back and remember.  ;)
Wow, Truly amazing country.  Nice and inspiring work.  I hope to follow your track someday.
Love that first photo.  Friday was maybe the best snow I've had the privilege of skiing on Mt. Hood.
I can neither confirm nor deny whether or not ignition or detonation was involved, other than to say no bushytails were harmed in the making of this report.
Forest!  Nice work.  I look forward to exploring that area thoroughly this May.  I'm praying for clear skies and excellent corn.

The McCallister truly is one of this world's natural wonders.

Well done gentlemen! A fantastic birthday ski for Ari. Beautiful area we have in our back yard eh? Glad you made it happen!

stokaine powder.

Love this description!
Pretty flipping amazing terrain and skiing!
Great write up.

Did you guys not burn, or blow anything up?

Amazing once again. Beautiful trip McBrians!

Great idea. GO day!

great write up on W.O. too.

Une hirondelle ne fait pas le printemps, mais une belle descente au soleil dans la bonne poudreuse! Chapeau, les gars, chapeau.

Mike, Thanks for the ride back to Alpental after our 3 peak traverse.  We were considering skiing the slot and probably should have adjusted our plans but we still got a few good turns. Great video BTW!

Pete, nice seeing you again at the top of the Crooked.
Stellar location!

Nice work euro-gang. Both sides of lemah look pretty damn scary!
Sweet trip.  Love the board and paws photos.
Also, great name for your dog.  First mention of Kololo in your post had me thinking "did he travel all the way in to Kololo Pks in winter!?"
Wow! That's an amazing amount of terrain to cover. And great pics too! Would love to hang into your coat-tails on another trip like this. Sounds like you made an excellent decision at The Crooked, and Cumulous, great pic of your "scientific experiment"!

That second picture! Is that a watercolor painting?!

my camera has a function labeled "hdr art".  It takes a series of shots and combines them somehow.  For me, tracks show up better with that function.

Nice guys!  What a great spot for d...
Went up yesterday looking for sheltered snow. It's all pretty evenly turned to mush, even north-facing. Fun terrain back there, however.

Spring has sprung
That second picture! Is that a watercolor painting?! I honestly think it looks like one.

Saturday was acceptable

Yeah, I'd be alright with that...
Nice guys!  What a great spot for day tours.  Now, how about working toward making the area non-motorized except for access to some location down low (warming hut maybe)?  Obvious opposition from the motorheads of course but what an asset for the ski community!
Sickness. I am most certainly inspired to get in and check out this area now!

So cool. Glad you got it!
