After reading the Bagley Lakes/Artist Point TR of the 16th It made me think about how really crazy and idiotic people can be in the bc. It might be entertaining to hear who has had the most incredible encounter with the stupidity factor of others. This happened to me, no lie.
I had just skied down a lovely 600 ft. face in boot high pow in the mid afternoon and at the bottom of the small bowl on the flat as I was attaching my skins to skis I noticed that there was a group of hikers on the ridge directly above my position. There seemed to be a leader for them and he began to stomp the cornice of the ridge and dislodged a chunk as big as three refrigerators that I watched tumble and somersault directly at my position. The cornice chunk rolled to a slow stop about fifteen feet above me.
I screamed a few well chosen words at the group, got my gear together and made a hasty bee line for the shelter of the trees and the hike out.
I was tempted to go back up the ridge and confront the culprit, but decided to head back instead. I was afraid of what I might actualy do if I found him.

One time I went hiking along a ridge where a skier had just skied down. He foolishly stopped in an area below that was exposed to the cornice above. I decided to teach him a lesson by stomping on exactly the right amount of cornice in such a way that it would slowly come to rest approximately 14' away from him, give or take.
I think he appreciated the gesture because I heard him yell up to me "I oughta kiss your ass for that!"

Thanks, Ed, I just wet my ski pants. No disrespect, Filbo.

LOL. I remember when I was climbing a steep slope on a popular route. I had waited a while so the female skiers in front of me were well up the switchbacks before I started. When I got ⅓ the way up, the last female skier (⅔ the way up, directly above me), obviously aware and concerned about avy danger, decided to do some stomping with her downhill ski to test the stability of the snow ::) I was too shocked to even open my mouth.

Well insulted, wit, sarcasm, very nice for someone I take it, who spends a lot of time on their knees.
