That is a good and valid point; we all benefit from being civil and expressing ourselves firmly but politely; speak and act offensively without knowing who you are dealing with will often lead to unintended and sometimes tragic consequences.

But where else have you found such an opportunity to speak your own indignation?    I think the the thread has illustrated some very useful concepts that all bc travelers should be aware of particularly the needs for courtesy, to somehow establish norms for backcountry travel because there seem to be none, and to recognize the danger of intemperance.

I'm inclined to agree with Aaron - this is the kind of the thread that often goes poorly here. I'm going to close this - if folks want to debate guns in the backcountry they can PM or email it.
