I don't know what to do with this. Laugh I guess. The skiing elite smells blood in the water ,gleefully begins to circle in hopes of an easy kill....

Interesting response to a simple, straightforward blog. I agree with her totally, except for her omission of splitboards--relatively efficient backcountry tools and the combination of board and snowshoes; a little weightier than AT gear, but then there is that descent. Nothing is so stirring as watching a snowboarder doing a long, graceful, steep descent. But the kids trying to ride the green and blue groomers at White Pass seem a little non-plussed, especially with new snow; the slopes just are not steep enough (with a few exceptions). Their peers in the ski racing classes zoom past effortlessly. So, the number of board vs. number of skis seems to be declining to me, and documented by Kim. I see old-school skiers (on 60-80 mm waist skis) having problems with ungroomed Cascade powder, but as Kim pointed out, they don't have to struggle as much as the boarders. And the skinny ski skiers are rapidly being replaced by skiers whose daily drivers now seem to average 98 mm underfoot and supposedly 105 mm will be the new daily driver (kind of like a split board, but much more likely to go different directions on the way down LOL).
