I don't understand why everybody is so concerned with which tool is more efficient. Who cares, we all use what we use to have an awesome day, whichever tool we prefer is our business. Nobody needs to dog on anyone elses option, doing so is a bit uncalled for in my opinion. I'm just going to continue respecting skiers and snowboarders equally and rip down those slopes having a great time
I think most of us feel that way

. My post was originally a reaction to all of the recent media about the decline of the sport and my own observations. Like I said earlier, snowboarding powder is great. It's amazing. But getting to it before its gone is harder than ever (thanks to fat skis) and snowboarding might not be the most efficient tool out there.
This quote seems somewhat disingenuous. I went back and reread the blog to see why everyone was stirred up: "Snowboarding is a pain in the ass. All that strapping, unstrapping, crowhopping, crab walking takes away from the turning, carving, floating and even jibbing that’s supposed to make the sport fun. So maybe we should all just step back and watch snowboarding’s slow decline without attempting CPR. Maybe we should just let snowboarding go" This is not the only statement that implies the death of snowboarding. The two articles she referenced were both thoughtful and factual. She has taken off from there and added some observations of her own from a resort that is terrain unfriendly for boarders and come up with a bit of sensational diatribe. I would expect better from someone so closely involved in the industry and I think she may have done a disservice to aspiring sliders who may be turned off from boarding by her speculation.
Boarding does have disadvantages, I was out yesterday and my split was the lesser tool on the way up and the way down compared to both partners' skis. I am still not giving it up, even if I am "the last snowboarder".
Rationality and media can go together, it just requires content instead of sensationalism. Interpreting the end of snowboarding's meteoric rise as a death knell is pretty unrealistic.

lets make some turns after i buckle my boots and strap my pack but wait till i get my goggles on because my poles are in the way and i need to get the camera out. ok i think i'm ready, which way to the lodge because my bindings are loose and one of my boots is pinching.

I think Chuck may have cracked the code!Maybe this post is really about trolling to get more attention for the mountain with 1/2 the base as better WA areas?
For my part, I appreciate the way snowboarders have helped me hone my obstacle-dodging skills when getting off chairlifts that have limited egress paths...
