Support group required. was created by Scotsman
Is there a support group for Parents with Children who Tele?
Thanks to the corrupting influence of Joedabaker, my son has taken up telemarking.
It's just gut wrenching watching him.

I'm really struggling with this and need the shared compassion of similarly affected parents.

The best post I've read all year. Make believers out of them early on.

He used to be a pretty damn good alpine skier.

It is now quite pitiful watching him throw that all away. and spending his time flailing down green groomers.

It's even worse than if he'd started snowboarding.... which I could understand as being in some conditions a superior tool.

But not tele.

Big hugs Scottie, I know this is a troubling time for you. look on the bright side though he could have told you he wanted to be a republican.

Thanks Brit and Oft,
I just got off the phone with him and he's coming down to ski tomorrow. I told him to bring his AT gear as we're planning on doing some sidecountry laps at Crystal. He's insiting upon bringing tele gear.
I told him that he can barely get down a green groomed run so skiing sidecountry crud is going to be beyond his skill level but he says he doesn't care and I'll just have to wait for him.
Do you think it would be acceptable just to ditch him????What is acceptable protocol in this case?

GF? God Fallacy?  Tell him it's a turn and not a religion. (so a wise mon once said)

Don't worry Scotty, it's probably a phase.  He is just entering college; it is a time for him to experiment a little.  Drugs, gay sex, tele turns; it's natural.

BTW- Did he leave those old Wailers in your garage?  They are probably in the way and I bet that Pam is tired of looking at them.   ;D
