LOL.  My stepson was first and alpine skier, then snowboarder.  My wife and I were going to take a telemark clinic at Whitewater (Nelson B.C.) and we invited him to learn telemark.  On initial testing, we were put into the intermediate group and he was put into the advanced group doing double black-diamond and air-catching stuff---so prepare to be humiliated Scotsman!

I think you should do what a lot of parents did in the sixties. Humor him maybe even buy a rig yourself.
