If you're wanting a dedicated powder stick, my two cents is to get something with a waist around 100mm if not wider....at least try something out that wide before you decide on the Kalias :)

I love my older foam-core Verdicts with dynafits for touring and I have Gotamas with Freerides for inbounds/slackcountry...both offer a surfy feeling that I just haven't felt with skis that are narrower.

....at least 100 for dedicated pow ski, and definitely something with some rocker in the tip.

If you aren't touring, and you are prone to quiver theory, Poons all the way...
Rocker, a huge tip and tapered tail. These things rip.

If you you need something more versatile, Volkl Goat's or Mantra's. They take a beating and are built to last. The Mantra gets the edge when the pow turns to crud.

I'm a pretty darn good skier and find the verdicts tough to ski and have a real small sweetspot.

I love the G3 Rapid Transits....But I also covet the Tickets a second lover.

A timely thread as I just addded something "a bit" wider and started a quiver at the same time.  Normally I ski Shuksans - very versatile.  I just picked up the Voile Insanes after quite a bit of thinking and debating.  Got a deal, and went for it.  I've gone from 78mm to 108mm under foot for the deep days.  3cm wider!

First day was Baker, a week ago Friday, then again two days later during the Sunday storm.  This past Saturday was Crystal.  Wow.  Darn near intoxicating.  Very similar to the Shuksans (short/med radius - great in trees) but with amazing float and you can just keep going and going and going...

It works for me.

95+mm underfoot. You won't be sorry. I have been skiing Sugardaddies for the last few years and got a pair of Coombas this year. I have been very happy with both. I am thinking about a Kailas or somethig thinner for the summer this year. Cheers.

so I have coombas with dynafit and I'm thinking of something lighter but not give up too much in powder performance. Ideas of the janak?
Or thinking of even lighter like the kailas but they're quite a bit skinnier
