Cascade Powder Skis was created by eric
I've decided to do my part for our economy and put GW's rebate check towards a pair of powder skis. Just about everybody I've talked to really likes whatever it is they have, which tells me I probably can't go too wrong no matter what I choose. I'm leaning towards the BD Verdicts right now.

Just curious to know what people are using and like or dislike.

Anyone care to share an opinion?

Atomic Kalais last years lime green model.

Jill uses a pair with downhill bindings plus another pair for backcountry use with Dynafit bindings.  I use a pair for backcountry use with Dynafit bindings.  We have used them in the Andes, Cascades, Rockies and Sierra and average over 100 days per season on our skis.  We like them.

After tons of noodling around and trying different things I have finally arrived at my perfect 2-ski quiver: A Kailas with Dynafits, and a Coomba with Dukes.

The Coomba would be the "powder ski," you refer to, but I definitely use it for more than that. It's light, but way more stable than I ever thought it would be on groomers and rough crud. That said, I'm a lightweight. The Coomba was awesome last Sunday afternoon in wind-blasted, warm snow at Alpy, which was the test I'd been waiting to see happen before giving the full thumbs up. Great pow ski, good everything else ski. Definitely light enough to tour on.

Kailas has a similar flex, which, considering that it's foam core, is praiseworthy. It's certainly very good in pow (nice fat tip), but is too skinny to be called a powder ski. Kailas does everything very well and is cheap. A fantastic touring ski.

Another vote for last year's Kailas. I agree you could go fatter for surfing pow but I wouldn't want to haul a wider ski uphill for very long.

Anyone like this year's Kailas? Can't beat the price it seems.

This year's Kalais changed the color to a more subdued gray. I was told the ski remained the same.
