wow, looks great! anyone have an explanation why the washington pass telemetry did not/does not show this amount of new snow? what aspects did you find a foot+ of new on? could that have been lingering soft snow with a couple inches of fresh on top?
Oh it was so nice! I started singing halleluiah!!
Looks like you timed it right!
Thanks for the report and photos, and way to time it right. We camped/skied up there in early June last year - those cornices along Cairn Basin looking very similar then.
Nice work and thanks for the report!
Well done! Really like the google earth shots mixed in. Shared the truck ride back to blue lake th with you guys
Silas, I love that you are getting the goods in Italy, and I'm truly green with envy, but could you include some great pictures to really make me suffer?
Lovely vid, I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Great pic of Silverton down in the distance in the 2cnd or so photo.
I have a customer in Durango and always look forward to driving the million dollar hwy south out of Ouray thru Silverton from CB, CO. What a beautiful area!
Very stable conditions for sure this spring.
Thx for posting. Tony

Way to rub rub our noses in it. GPNF is not doing a good job at updating the road conditions this year. In reality I was letting you all know that roads are passable.
Just sayin, never know unless you go. Probably been the best part about this crappy winter, no problem accessing Adams without a snomo. Surprise lakes snotel provides a pretty good idea...
It was a great weekend. Also, the sun coming out Saturday afternoon was pretty cool after a socked in, snowy morning.
No big deal river59, I'm just always psyched for more information/stoke-enhancing pictures.
awesome! might have to rush down there before it warms back up. nice mtn twin split too.

Adams has been in since November.

Kam - Unfortunately my nice camera decided to quit working last month. I dont have any pictures to share other than one I took with a potato from below the a...
Thanks Jamie! Hopefully I'll see you out there!
Yes! Let's go discover some secret stashes ;D
I just rolled in from a desert trip so I'm looking for snow... Rolfing too!

Thanks for sharing a great trip; I also really enjoyed your video.
Vince, good to see you out and about, nice pic, thanks. I think it's about time to hit the pass, looks like folks are getting great turns!
I went to the map, to find where you were, fantastic looking turns, thanks for the great photos!
Thanks for the great photos, flat light can sure take the fun out of great snow!
We did not bike, it was snowing like crazy, but we were hoping we could. I think it just made it all the more important to get back to ski and bike. We found a great BLM camp on the way home.
Dan this winter has been all about Rolfing, we went for a great ski today, in Clara lake basin and there was plenty of full contact Rolfing on the way out!!!
Hope you are getting some turns, it might be time to "discover" some new routes at Washington Pass!!!

Now I'm real jealous. My kind of an adventure. Ice tools, alpine, careful interaction with the terrain and conditions... aerobic long day.
Thanks for posting! and I agree about the vid. Very nice to see something with great character.

"Now I know why this peak is called Cutthroat! Because if you tell anybody how good the skiing is there, you will be dead "
;D ;D ;D
I'm still jumpy... worried that someone might cut my throat after my last TR in this area!
HWY 20... I'm coming.
;D ;D ;D

Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Can't wait to get up there.
Rolfing!
I'm going to use it now. Thoroughly and well coined.

Nice one, Ryan! That sounds like a full day ...
Glad you enjoyed the cheesy bacon fries Jamie! Did you Mtn bike in Susanville?
Anytime Amar. Ditto to you too, Hedo and zbo. Getting kind of lonely down in Yakistan. Give ourselves a couple of nights we could even search out that hotel Chapin place. I hear it's got great views
Sounds like a great trip. Glad you are back in town!
HA! There's been a lot of that this year.
This is from a tour near Mission Ridge today :)

Great info! Do you mind sharing more about the Adams Glacier conditions, and maybe a picture of the Northwest ridge exit? Thanks!
Great write-up and photos, Amar! It's been fun getting out with you, although I suppose our 100% success rate at finding powder has to break down at some point. ;)
author=Amar Andalkar link=topic=34088.msg140690#msg140690 date=1428704297]... finding only a few short sections of previous skin track which had not been destroyed by the scourge of boot and snowshoe.
All of my trail breaking for naught! I've never seen the snowfield like that... absolutely no wind effect (granted I'm 180-190 Muir trips shy of Amar).
Regarding blue lake mudflow...we were just as surprised to see you last year as you were of us! Don't get many visitors on the West Side.
Nice going, blower pow, and no wind! A day of skiing on Rainier like this is on my to do list.
goat rocks looks sooooo sweet. you guys are animals. 20+ miles. 7+ before skinning?!? my feet hurt from reading this.
Nice work, Ryan, and nice TR!
I love that route in to Gilbert from the east side, need to ski it more often, but it's so far from Seattle and no one else wants to go there since it's so long and obscure. Let's ski it together sometime while you're still in Yakima. I kind of prefer the Surprise Lake side of the trail loop, since it has a scenic view of Gilbert directly above the lake if you walk around to the outlet side.

Nice pics! We call it the "Hall of the Mountain King" for all the big rocks the king has thrown down from Cutthroat. (I doubt the king is really trying to keep it locals only, but watch out!) That was us through it before you two. It is good and solid over there this year, often deep mush or crust on a normal year. Now back in December...........
Nice job......Sunday and Wed next week it will not be just boot top........maybe hat skiing.
