Great info! Do you mind sharing more about the Adams Glacier conditions, and maybe a picture of the Northwest ridge exit? Thanks!
Great write-up and photos, Amar! It's been fun getting out with you, although I suppose our 100% success rate at finding powder has to break down at some point. ;)

All of my trail breaking for naught! I've never seen the snowfield like that... absolutely no wind effect (granted I'm 180-190 Muir trips shy of Amar).
Regarding blue lake mudflow...we were just as surprised to see you last year as you were of us! Don't get many visitors on the West Side.
Nice going, blower pow, and no wind! A day of skiing on Rainier like this is on my to do list.
goat rocks looks sooooo sweet. you guys are animals. 20+ miles. 7+ before skinning?!? my feet hurt from reading this.
Nice work, Ryan, and nice TR!
I love that route in to Gilbert from the east side, need to ski it more often, but it's so far from Seattle and no one else wants to go there since it's so long and obscure. Let's ski it together sometime while you're still in Yakima. I kind of prefer the Surprise Lake side of the trail loop, since it has a scenic view of Gilbert directly above the lake if you walk around to the outlet side.

Nice pics! We call it the "Hall of the Mountain King" for all the big rocks the king has thrown down from Cutthroat. (I doubt the king is really trying to keep it locals only, but watch out!) That was us through it before you two. It is good and solid over there this year, often deep mush or crust on a normal year. Now back in December...........
Nice job......Sunday and Wed next week it will not be just boot top........maybe hat skiing.

Yeah funny how considering solar angle and heat transfer rates are much more fun outside than in a cubicle...

Good report from such a low elevation network of ski areas in April during a lackluster Austrian snow year.
90 lifts for 45 Euro is the way lift served skiing should be! We are fooled in North America IMO.
371 ski areas in Austria, which is 1/2 the size of Washington State. And yet, there are still untouched wild slopes as far as the eye can see.... Go figure!
Have a great trip. Eat some Grostl, Speck and more Strudel!
Wish I could have stayed all Winter... the lucky live...

Nice photos, I especially like the woops shot!
I agree, the whoops is a good photo. Also I like the one above whoops.

Sounds pretty awesome over there.
Hope to share a few beers with you before I head North.

Makes me giddy just to watch your great trip, thanks for such a wonderful post.
Looks perdy nice. How far from the TH to consistently reasonable skinning conditions?
The original goal of an Interglacier descent was noble, but one finds it hard to continue into a whiteout when silken sunny slopes beckon. Great day Erik!
Besides the pinwheels, we were also able to release small wind-loaded slopes that had warmed in the sun.

Thanks - that's still within my limit! A beautiful line that should be skied!
I think John Baldwin's book says it's 40 deg, which felt about right to me. With the couple feet of pow that's in there now, it's not intimidating at all. If it was anything close to icy, it would be a very different story.
My partner bailed - another inbounds day. But I do have new demo skis that cost me $242 US! Atomic Access with bindings. Bottoms are perfect!
Fissile does look good. Those were some sweet looking tracks. How steep would you figure Banana Chute would be? I do have a limit...

Thanks Avajane. Yeah stability was not a concern - one of the pluses of a lack of snow. The downside was the lack of anything to dig our toes into. We also discovered that there's a lot of shale on Fissile so when we did get down to rock, it would slide around on us. I definitely want to return with the proper equipment and do a line right from the top.
I had never been out further than Oboe before this trip, but now I figure if you're going to go to...

No way, we like our knees! One set of screws in the knee is plenty ;)

And the dog -- so, ok, I like them as much as anyone, but isn't Naches in the Park? Or part of it?
There are park boundary placards on seemingly every tree along the park boundary. It's pretty obvious if you have entered the park. The pooches are legal on the rights part of Naches and Yakima.
I always leash my dog near the crest in that a...
Looks like a nice kicker in the last photo of yours. Did you hit it?
Nice work guys. Good snow that day. Looked like you had excellent stability even on the steeps. I saw a picture of a guy getting up there in 2006 and his caption was "my kingdom for an ax, or even a whippet". You certainly made the most of it. I'm hoping to ski Cowboy Ridge tomorrow.
Thank you all for your kind comments!
hedonaut - we looked at Whistler and it looked interesting. How did you go up it? We are intrigued.
Kenji - ugh, I am still recovering from Post Traumatic Crust Disorder and the Ski-with-no-binding disorder.
Good2Go - We have the Good to Go Pass - is that going to work for skiing the N side of the Hwy? ;) I am curious what other gems are on that side.

Totally polished pics. Wicked~!
Great photos! Took long enough for the snow gods to deliver.

Fantastic!! How did the other side look?
Like this: The S is a go for sure.
I reckon at the Pelton-Magic col there was about 12" + of fresh on top of a rock solid crust.
Such a rad mission. Strong work guys!
Nice vid man! Glad to see that conditions have improved.
Outstanding! I've still not made it up there yet, and really been wondering about it this year. Well done, and great TR.
Awesome pics! The north side of the highway is reserved for Methow locals only. Didn't you see the signs?

I didn't have the dog, but it's in the park with I assume based on what I've read means they're not allowed, but it is damn close to the PCT. Didn't even think of that when I saw the pooch. Seems fuzzy to me if it was allowed or not.
