Any recent Beta? I'm headed up Sunday, curious if skis will be worth it; I'll be with a party of butt-sliders.
Not taking no for an answer! Some beautiful pictures.
YEAH, Guy's and Gal! Liked the steep melted out snow fingers too!! And, what is the gross axle weight on Hugh's "Beer Hauler"??
CoriB, definitely lightens the load... everybody is all hot and heavy over Carbon fiber these days. I personally think Helium is the future of our sport. I'm looking to fill my tent for the next outing.. :D
Superb looking day! Love the distant shots of the skiers descending the shoulder, with R loomin large behind.

Ah! High-stakes fog-fishing for flytraps
Yaasssss. So awesome.
The balloons help lighten the load on the approach, right?

Runcle, if you read my blog or most recent TR here, you'll see that I've got that one on lock.

My favorite vid of the year so far!! Can't wait to get up there with you next time 8)
My method of navigating the glacier was to keep myself on the broadest contours of the map. It worked for the most part. The subtle change in contour is always shocking when after about a minute you find yourself going in the exact opposite direction you thought you were. Hence we checked out bearing frequently. We finally resorted to me in the front with the fishing line and Everett in the back with the compass and map to keep me going the right direction.
Very nice. You did some big days. Luv that route. We know all about navigating the Neve in pea soup. When we did the route a few years ago late season satellite imagery helped much in setting GPS waypoints to weave around the crevasses.
Good work, Dan. Sorry about the weather window closing on your outstretched neck... glad you made it down with little viz.
What everyone else said, great, thanks for the stoke.
Enjoyed it Jeff, good to see you guys getting after it!
very cool, venerating trip gents -- and nice vid, pics both!
tempted to have a look tomorrow...but for the rain ;(

Wow, big trip! Congrats. Thanks for taking the time to write up a little something about it.
some good lines in good style for sure... nice vid!
Really enjoyed your TR for both trips and the photos. ;)
Thanks for the pictures, I have only been in that area in the summer, but would really like to ski it looks really fun.
Looks like a perfect day! Thanks for posting the video.
Paul and I skied Vesper 17th, Tue. Didn't put skis on until after over the pass. Still good skiing higher, and NO pollen issue! Did one run on the west flank. The south slope looked good, it's steeper and longer, maybe next year, I guess.
The road had a closed sign up for repair, be sure to check before heading that way.

I think I was one of the skiers from up high that talked to you. We ascended the North Ridge Tuesday and skied down from the false summit a little late, around 3. The Roman wall skied like a champ and the whole Coleman glacier was nice as well. Good coverage, very little crevasse navigation required. Great corn most of the way.
Friday I skied the Easton which was also really great corn up high and fantastic coverage.

The east-ish facing bowl is holding snow nicely as of the afternoon of 4/18. The snow in that bowl was getting pretty sticky and slow about 500' below the summit of Naches Peak. There's also plenty of snow on the north side (no surprise there). The south slopes seem to be melting out pretty quickly (again, no surprise) with large patches of bare dirt/rock open on the upper portions of Naches. The west bowl is holding up better and for now, there's a skiable ramp leading into the u...
Hey Zap - any intel on the snow depth and conditions up at the pass itself? How is it holding up this year with all the warm days. It is my favorite Memorial Weekend tradition for 20+ years. Thanks for making the first tracks this year and scoping it out!
We did it a few years ago and came out Indian Creek. Perhaps a bit more civilized than Lightning Creek/White River. One of my favorite trips ever.
Thanks for the report Kjell. Great to see you on here.
Sure is brown up high. Maybe it will get white this week.
here's to corn season, even if it's shorter than usual. one more from late June 2014 :)
2014 had a pretty snowy Spring, whereas we've had a hot and dry one. Seems like we're a month ahead of schedule with the melt
Well! Black Diamond decided to change their glue formula! That may explain why my skins began to fail only after two trips and perhaps deposited glue on my bases which made for some hideously slow descents. Looks like I'll keep the good old Magic Carpet skins and just use ski straps to hold them in place since I lost the parts that hook to the tail of my skis until I order myself a new set of Magic Carpets!
Great route. Didn't we do that tour together 4-5 years ago?
skykilo, sweet zone indeed. just got lost on your blog looking at trs from the area. woowee
