Beta: Lots of walking w/ skis on pack or in hand, but lots of looong runs too.
If you decide to choose between a rope or a helmet, go w/ the helmet. Many of the visible slots are less than 20ft deep or very narrow.
An amount of slide alder on the trail up Bachelor Cr has been pruned on the climbers left side trail.
Red Ledges probably only has 40ft of (hard) snow clinging to the north (Koolaid Lk) side of the ledges.
All lakes have liquid water.<...

Wow Todd, I am impressed that you did this in two days=took us 5! You Minnesotans are impressive-although personality, I still think you are from Canada, eh?
Party is complete w/ flag tights. Looks fun! And congrats, dood!
Hell of a line getting a fair amount of attention. I'll have to head that way next spring!
Nicely done Jake and Victor! Looking forward to Victor's photos.

We will get our longer trip and report in later.
So, do be clear, you camped above Cub Lk and at Rimrock Lk?
I'm impressed w/ your time, esp. considering you had to walk or skin *up* long traverses above the S Cascade Gl and N of Yang Yang Lk.
Once we came upon your tracks to follow we no longer roped up on the glaciers which saved oodles of time.

Always a treat to connect with great people in great places. Thank you Jim for helping pioneer the routes, community, and culture that put 3 like-minded guys with skis on top of a volcano in the middle of summer. Very happy we got to ski with a "legend" as Chuck put it.
Great meeting you, Jim. And thanks again for the great pics and video - and sharing that gulley with us! A great day indeed. We also got tacos - Taqueria Los Jarritos in Mt. Vernon on the way back to Seattle. 5 stars after a day of instant oatmeal and energy bars.

We envied your ski down the Dana Gl, as I'm sure you envied us our ski down to Rimrock Lk.

Very sorry to hear that news. Thoughts and prayers for the skier, family and loved ones.

And today the 4th, too. Lots of Camp Muir hikers attired in stars and stripes. I flew my red, white and blue K2 Hardsides.
There was a chopper flying with a stop at Muir after I left. Does not seem like the day to empty the potties. Was their a search?
TNT is reporting a missing skier at Pebble Ck:

Skiing was bumpy but fun and not grabby, top (Muir) to bottom. Kind of long carries at Pan Point and Pebble Creek, maybe avoidable. For me the down hike on rocks induced cramps in both legs. Ran out of water after 3L and drank from what I hope was just snowmelt. A nice cruise all the way to the visitors center from below Pan Pt.

Nice! -- looks like S->N was the favorable direction in terms of turns given the state coverage!
Great to meet you, Ron. What a great route on what a great day. And you added on Lassen. Way to go! We added on Hood on the way home because we didn't have time for anything else. Hope we meet up again!
Your trip reports provide a great story of your day on the volcano. ;)
Amar lives there; yesterday he had 19 friends with him!
Ha, and I remember thinking you were crazy when I saw you carry alpine ski gear up Adams a few years ago! I need to get in better shape but I think I had better start slower than that. Keep being you man!
Way to fight the uphill slide alder fight! ;) 8)
For the record, I'd say I get accused of being Canadian at least once a year, but that is usually when I am ordering a Molson or something.

Great Video! I was with the group you met heading up the N Ridge Sunday morning. We skied the NFNWR around 2pm. The top section was still a little firm in places, and the bottom 500 feet was starting to get pretty soft. Looks like Saturday was a bit better. Still - a fantastic ski! We thought the exit onto the Adams glacier was a little non-intuitive from above, though it ended up being easy...
That looks awesome. Great corn, nice line, sweet video. Thanks for sharing!

LOST AMAR FOUND!
The corn was still hanging in Thurs. (7-29). And we found Amar there....(and he reports skiing it Wed. too...)

Colchuck is still worth the walk, I did have to make a short carry on the way up, just to avoid the bolder hop twice, but was still able to ski all the way to the lake. Started down about 13:00 and it was great, about the best corn this season for me. Met some nice guys to share the decent with, thanks.
Your pictures are better than mine were. My crux was traversing that damn bolde...
yes, very cool! the stoke is palpable. looks like you guys had a blast.
The corn this season has been in short supply, glad you found the goods hidden in plane sight! Thanks for the solitude musing.
Yeah... I think some of that corn belongs to me? If you could return it, that would be great. Along with your TPS report. Did you get the memo about the cover letter?

A bit corny, but good.
That's the spirit ;D
Nice turns and a beautiful trip report. A bit corny, but good.
I climbed it on the 18th... I felt it'd probably be out for climbing within two weeks due to an inability to leave the snow to cross moats. Above the top of the couloir, there was more rock than snow.
Unless you really like skiing steep runneled couloirs filled with rappels, rock steps, and extended snow narrower than a ski width, the colchuck glacier would be a lot more fun!

For skiing? I climbed it on 6/11 and there were already 3 exposed (but easy to navigate) rock steps. The traverse to the north face was on dry loose ledges but the face was still well snow covered. I'm sure it looks considerably different now however...

Did you get a look at the NBC? Wondering if it will be in on the 4th.

Skiing the Chutes at 13 and 14? Oh man - that's top-shelf bragging rights. Too bad most of their friends won't have a clue of how cool that truly is. But the girls know and that's what matters. Kudos to them.
Thanks for the photos and report, Stefan.
So glad we got these little gals together early in their ski touring development. They have been able to feed off of each others enthusiasm (much like their older counterparts do with their ski partners) :)

Did someone else ski it too that day? There's some curious looking tracks...
We were the only skiers on Saturday. The tracks lookers right were already there. Almost looked like a skin track.

Very nice! What time did you drop in?
4:30
I was out there Monday trying to figure out how I could ski all that smooth corn by myself.. Thanks for the help ;)
OK, I’ll admit to it: I lost it--- last spring, just before a sprained ankle and two knee replacements sidelined me. I figured I wouldn’t be able to use it for a year or more, so the best thing would be to leave it there for whoever could make good use of it. I’m glad to hear that you found it, and especially that you had the wisdom to make sure it didn’t go to waste. I have faith that the care with which you observed the proprieties will bring us all karma dividends in corn for the next few mon...
