hi Ryan -- likewise!  But I'm envious because it seems like up north you guys will be able to enjoy the snow longer.  It's melting so fast hear with the heat, and today it was so hot that I had to wait until 7:30pm to take out my mountain bike.

Theisen and Silas together, Kam?  That makes for a VERY fun day I imagine!
Gotta get down there so...
Thanks for the tip on the road, saw that post seconds before heading out of town on Friday. We (Paul, Mary, Andrew) dropped a car at White River CG had great tour out to 3rd Burrough down to bottom of Interglacier (a bit grabby and inconsistent). Then up to Camp Curtis. The ski down was amazing, like floating on crystals spraying away with every turn. Much better than expected from the looks of it on our way up. The least consolidated was on steeps down from Burroughs so sought out lower angle o...
Stoudema, the coverage up high is actually better than last year when you and I rode it on Memorial Day!  Below 8000 it is melting fast.

DG, Rebecca and I crossed paths with you and your girlfriend just at the start of the final treed descent near Moraine Lake.  We were the ones saying that your dog looked a lot like our dog.

We saw the pug almost back at the parking lot and he did not even look winded after his climb!  The owner said that he runs 30 miles a...
We had a gang of five up there that day too.  The SW chutes were awesome.  It was nice that it took a while to corn up, as it took us a while to summit.
We ended up missing the optimum traverse back to our up and ended up on a lower trail that took us to Morrison Creek CG.  There was a bit of bushwacking and backtracking up to the car, but in the end, a most incredible day.
Nice post!
- how about low-level (high cloud) cirrus.
we get those down here in the Sierra, associated with an incoming front.
ours gets stretched out into a small, irregular lenticular - then dissapears

    Great rpt

Kam, When Silas told me he was heading for Tioga,  I mentioned the Mo Mart and the carrot cake with the raspberry and chocolate drizzle but it was a meal for 2.  So did you go to the Mo Mart after your cup fest ?

I love the photo of Silas on the stream crossing-you bad.  ;)

Looks like a good time!  Nice coverage up high!

We were there on Sunday and there were some nice looking tracks in one of the chutes - encouraged us to make some of our own.

Here’s Marcus making tracks down one of those many chutes.

Also the view of the Olympics from the southern peak of Freemont. What a day!
golly, sorry I missed this one:( half-naked skiers and all!
good work gang...

The little dogs are amazing, I bet that pug was tired by the end of the day.

No kidding - he looked like he was loving it.  But it really puts it in perspective - how can I ever complain about suncups if they aren't at least as tall as I am?
What do you mean you didn't find any cups?

Nice report, Zap!!  Good to see you're out having fun.  The photos are nice, too.

I haven't yet acquired the taste for low hanging fruit ;).  The approach to Broken Top and South Sister is mouth-watering!  But I might have to wait a little longer for it to ripen.
Nice caption on the last picture Gary; you had to know Tyler and I would bring a little party to the slog that is Mt. Adams.  Keep the next (long) weekend open, and we'll keep the bender going ;)

"The South Climb sun got warm quick, encouraging the more trashy individuals to take a clothing optional skin up to the false summit."

Trashy Olympic peninsula skiers.  Its bad when you have to pack all that extra clothing to the false summitt.  Strong work.  Can't wait to see Garyand Jan's pictures.

It was a lucky for us that Tyle...
Some pictures.  Sorry about the dorky time stamp, its a new camera.  And by the time we were skiing visibility was kind of bad.

John, Benj, Dave, Skip, Jack, Cor and Kam.
What day were you up there? Saturday morning?  I think we skied that chute in the first couple of pictures shortly after you did.  Great snow.

A group of St Lawrence University alumni joined me ...

Was that Skip, Jack, and Paul (AKA "Cor"?)? Or were there two pods of Larrylanders up there on Saturday?

They owe me for clueing them into the fact that the road had opened, despite my having given in to my wife's desire to hike-not-ski on Saturday! Otherwise, I might have managed to sucke...
Aw, I LOVE Oregon.  Looks like it was a glorius day.
Good looking pics and report.  That's been on my list since doing a summer in the area last year.

The little dogs are amazing, I bet that pug was tired by the end of the day.
Lemme be the next in line to stroke some ego & say way to get after it.  Seriously, looks like you nailed it.

At least I got Old Snowy.  Was nice to go bust my ass w/ miles & miles of skis/boots on pack to see if I still have the strength/stamina.  I guess I had enough in the tank to ski both days.
SteveP, nice photos!

Suze, got your heels assisted?
Thanks for the report, Kenji.  Skied out there Saturday and can only say wow, what a view!  A group of St Lawrence University alumni joined me and we spent most of our time together congratulating ourselves for skiing to such an awesome spot.  It was like going to church and then I got to ski back to my car.
yeah, that moon/shadow pic is awesome! nice work fellas. good to hear conditions are holding strong over there.
The second shot of Rainier's shadow, the moon, and Adams is amazing.  Glad you guys had a good trip.

What's the likelihood look like for driveability to Cold Springs next weekend?  Were you still able to skin the round the mountain back to the South Climb?

nice to finally be able to put a face to your name kam. Glad you're still enjoying the white stuff....
Nice TR.

Wish I Was There!

Always another reason to bring an ice axe.....

Looks like you guys had a great day at Sunrise  :)

Excellent pictures, Sidnie's smile in the 3rd one really says it all.

Gary and Jan
Sweet report!  Nice pics - can't believe the size of that avalanche!
Love that last photo of all the volcanoes in a line.
Great report.
Nice to see you guys at the hairpin and glad you got some.
BTW, I ordered some ski leashes like yours. Thanks for the tip.
Brenda and I had a bear walk through our camp at White River CG last night.
Fabulous TR and photos - thanks.
We saw a bear on the side of the road by Frying Pan Creek on Tuesday.
It was sitting up like a dog begging for food.

Glad we finally hooked up for a couple runs. Good job on 4 off the top!
Nice videos and glad you and Scotsman family came over for post ski homewreckers.
Awesome day to be followed up today!
Now hope to see Tara with you.

Joe is the bear picture from CRR? Hear they've been around a bunch recently.

No the bear was alongside the road past the Frying Pan TH. He or she's been seen frequently there.
It's not a big one, about the size of a large dog. Seemed quite unperturbed by us although I wasn't going to get out of the car and take up Joe's suggestion tha...

I skied the Muir snowfield with my wife and son yesterday. We noticed a few recent wet slab releases over in the Wilson - Van Trump area. There were ski tracks over there in the afternoon. I wonder if anybody can report on the conditions.
Got up there early and took a run down the Paradise glacier margin about 10:45.  It was fantastic, with slight verglas and totally untracked on some steep rolls below Anvil.  I was solo and did not have the guts to drop onto the Paradise glacier proper.  The crevasse systems to the L and R of what I think is the usual drop in point were impressively beautiful.  I climbed back up to Muir and reclaimed by lunch (left sitting there). The snowfield was absolutely jammed with hike...
Yes, my 11 AM start made the south side quite suspect, so I cautiously made a high traverse heading directly west toward the Pinnacle-Plummer Saddle.  Along the way I triggered a few small pin wheels and hissers. When I reached the shoulder of Pinnacle, I headed down a fairly conservative line on skiers right with nothing but small sluffs.  Again, I was very surprised at how smooth and fast it skied given the time of day and it's unconsolidated nature.

As an aside, the coverage...
