Thanks for the report, have been thinking of getting out there.
corn AND pow, sheer gluttony, you guys nailed the conditions!  thx for the report.
Cool trip, thanks for sharing!  Was the size of your pack proportional to the amount of whiskey you brought?
Neat trip and slick photo presentation.

Your pack looks heavy!

3/26 Lennox, approached via Money creek and up climbers left of goat basin.  Mostly fun skiable mashed potatoes. Easy travel through brush.  Evidence of lots of large slides in and above basin.

I saw your tracks on Lennox yesterday.  Amazing amount of terrain you guys did in a short time.  Impressive!

I like the combination of your photo w/ massive cl...
The south sides look surprisingly good.  I am keen to ski the south line on the Needle in the near future.

The way I remember it, you taught that to me, Zap  :)
Since we're both stroke survivors, we may never really know who first came up with that realization  ::)

Hmmm, now this has me questioning my decision to follow a stroke survivor over what may or may not have been a cornice. Note to self...
Right on, man.  Good nostalgia for all us expats.
That's my ole stomping grounds. Thanks for the trip down memory lane! Did you see anyone attempting the headwall?

Doesn't look like there's much snow on the ground at Bretton Woods?
Good meeting you guys on the Ridge Lake / Gravel Lake divide. We were curious how you fared as we thrashed our own way out of Gold Creek. We called it the "Kendall Circumnav" too ...
Was a couple hours behind you guys.  I opted for perfect corn down the west face after seeing how not powder the north face of rock looked.
Looks like a lot of fun Gregg. what a nice way to end March.

The car horns were an accident but your party wasn't exactly hunting rabbits if you get my drift.

Duly noted, I'm sorry if you were kept you up after the worlds rudest alarm clock.
That looks like an excellent adventure.
Thumbs up on the most excellent spring day on St. Helens!  The crater rim was peaceful and serene.  Good work getting your people to the top.

Found this out the hard way too, but I think putting the key in the ignition after opening the door prevents the alarm.
LOL!  At least we all are still doing it and doing it with a sense of humor.  Zap, Regine remembers you best for informing her in Golden that Cheetos are guy food. ;D
Yes.  I am sorry. :-[
Quick rant on late model subarus.  If you lock or unlock the door with your remote the horn honks.  Apparently if you lock the door with the remote and then UNLOCK IT WITH THE KEY the alarm goes off.  Seems quite stupid.
Were you the group with the car horns and alarms early Sunday morning ?
Crestone stoke!  Hope you get a few spring storms to fatten up that snowpack.

How'd the south sides look?
Doesn't get any better!  Nice work
Excellent Loren!  Impressive and well done.  Chapeau bas.
Hey Ron, still very easy to find bridges on the creek.  They are starting to sag a bit and get narrower so it will probably be dificult shortly if this warm weather continues.
The way I remember it, you taught that to me, Zap  :)

Nice.
Is there still plenty of crossing options across the Tatoosh Creek?
Great to see your trip and photos.  It is great to see your interesting trips.  ;)
I remember Ron teaches me never passing great snow for better snow.  ;)
Great to read your report and photos.  I skied the bowl in the slush days and a fun day with the masses.  ;)
Way to get it, you guys!  Never gets old.
Thanks Erik for putting up with my whining about the slog down (or was it up?) the never-ending Gold Creek drainage. It's nice to know now that if you need a ride back to Summit West after a late exit in the dark from Gold Creek, just walk 1 mile down the highway (which is quite refreshing after the last 4+ miles of skinning through the flat Gold Creek drainage) to the Hyak underpass where the WSDOT sub station is.  Those guys work all night, and can give you a ride on their snowplow!
...
To the North was diamond peak, pictured below, and the sisters range was also visible 70 miles away (I have a photo but it s a little too hazy)
Te mountain in the first photo is mount Scott, on crater lake east side. I did a great tour there last year up the east slope.

Here is a close up.

Mt Mcloughin is visible in photo 3, another close up. 50miles visibility!
It's on my list.  Way to run laps!
What's the mtn in the first photo background---Mt. McLoughlin?  Bailey looks nice now too.
Very nice...Love to do that someday!
Your report is more inspiration.
Congratulations Loren !  Awesome !
Nice report Loren. 10,600 vf of skiing is a whopper. Had it been me, I would have taken my skis off after around 7,000 vf and walked for a while just to remember what it was like.
No one of modest skiing abilities skis off the summit of Rainier.  Brilliant job.
WOW! Thanks for helping keep all of our AK dreams alive!
Just read your full report on your blog. Great write-up. Thanks!
Silas,
Did I talk to you and your buddy drinking beers just past Chocolate Falls?

That spray is wild - I was looking up there from my paddle board yesterday thinking I made the wrong choice :)  Made the girlfriend happy though and you know the saying.. happy wife (GF) happy life.
It's all about timing/aspect/elevation/terrain when the weather gets like this... N slopes were frozen hard when I was on my way (7am) and I fairly easily booted a W. slope out of Cave Ridge.  Turned the corner on a wind protected SE slope--a real solar sink--and conditions radically changed to sun softened mush.
S. skied very nicely down to just above 4K, at which point I wished I were on a splitboard...  (i.e. breakable crust)

of note were cracks found o...
Great report, thanks. And nice photos. I especially like the third from last of the skier with the long plume behind as they head down the shaded slope.
That panoramic shot is badass!!
Redux today, except I left home at 7:30 (returned at 12:30) for an early morning ski from Paradise to 4th xing and thence up to McClure (went to the base of McClure at ca 7,200 ft asl).  So firm on the way up I didn't even leave tracks except when using ski crampons.  Nice corn on the steep slopes facing south and east and firm crust on the flats on the way down.  Didn't see another person till the front of Mazama, but the parking lot was full when i got to my car.
