On a Monday? Am I the only one trying to hold this economy together?

As I sit here in my cubicle looking at a deteriorating weekend weather forecast the same thought crossed my mind!
On a Monday? Am I the only one trying to hold this economy together?
What the heck??
Looks like you are in Greenwater....Drinking and shooting with no backdrop on the road.
Ha, so you guys were TAY'ers...I was the guy in the red Subaru wagon that left around when you were getting ready to BBQ.

Hope you enjoyed the turns as much as I did!

Awesome parting 'shot'!

Hahaha! Next apres, I think will dig out the dirt bikes, bonfire, and something worth shooting at (spent propane bottles)! :)
Dang, I wish you'd gotten the heat out before I left Chris! Nice pics.
Ouch!

Not trying to arm chair but on a very simular weather day a couple springs ago I watched(from the road) two big avis come down the cj. One about 10 am, and avery large one around three.

The cooly itself might not get sun, but the snowfields that feed into it do.

Have video and photos somewhere.

Glad you managed.
great looking day!

Was aaron blarin the beegees?
Ha..

Nice one. Maybe next time you should put her on a board. ;)

This photo is full of Mountain Loop win!

How come I never get invited to all the cool stuff (and some skiing)  :(
Haha, the photo of the guy half embedded in the mush says it all, eh? :)
rock and roll on pilchuck!

Thanks for the update! Hope to head up the 1st weekend in June. Lots of milers up there?
haha

dropping into Gunsight
Nice day out for some turns

Nice work! Great day to be in the mountains. Love that descent.
Another NE transplant here. These pics also tug at the heartstrings. Had lots of great times up there. I hope you had a Tuckerman Ale and stopped at the Moat :) aaah, the Moat.

sigh... ;)
I was very excited about this trip to Tuckermans not only because I was going farther away from home to snowboard in the back country than ever before, but of the photos and a story for a report on TAY because I know how many New Englanders there are on TAY.  I'm just happy that for some my photos took you down memory road. Thanks for the compliments on my photography, it is my passion that I take a lot of pride in.

Took me 8 hours car to car, moving briskly with no trail breaking
Then obviously you couldn't be the first  ;)

I have a few friends who Swear by Foss and the Stevens Canyon but I go by the rule that it doesn't count as a first until you post it on the internet.

Hey Kyle! Very true on the trail breaking - I guess I should...

(lessen learned: SLOW DOWN AND BE DELIBERATE at all times when on exposed terrain). Due diligence is sometimes overlooked in the most common of tasks.

In my SCUBA classes, I was taught to do everything "Slow and relaxed with good technique". I don't always follow that advice but I have had a few situations like yours before where I...
That slide path on Shot Six is still active. I skinned up what’s left of the lazy traverse yesterday and some huge chunks were breaking off and coming down. I skied past it again on the way down and there was a fresh pile of mini-fridge-sized ice chunks that had come down in the last hour. Watch out for rocks too. The cliffs there and elsewhere in the valley are spitting good-sized chunks down pretty regularly.

And watch out for dog shit! So, so much dog shit.

That looks like a great trip.  Nice to not have any company too.

Think there would be any snow left by Memorial weekend?

Sure thing.  If you are coming from Bend, drive south on 97 continuing past the Diamond Lake turnoff and Chemult.  You'll look for a turnoff on the right onto West Boundary road.  This is directly acr...
updated with rotated photos...apparently only certain browsers auto-rotate the display. thanks for heads-up, brian.
Here is a better pic taken Sunday, May 19, 2013.  The debris slid all the way into Spire Gulch.  Glad to hear no one was caught up in it.
Dude, fix those photos.
It's not that tough, makes them borderline useless to all of us.
Thanks for your tr!  Scott is on my list---

Lots of good memories up there! My friends and I brought so much meat up to the lean-tos one year that even a year later were known as "those guys with the bacon." Tucks and Huntington's are where I learned to ski steep snow. I can't think of a better place. Watching drunk people ride inner tubes over the headwall was always a good time too.
Thanks for the TR Jonas. We were thinking of going up tomorrow--(kind of a tradition to do the bday tour on my day...) but those pix made me a tad nervous! Last year, we did the tour and SEWs and conditions were memorable. Seems too dangerous right now... even if you skirt left of the cornice, if it goes when coming up anywhere below there...
Great Report Radka! awesome work. Pictures are REALLY good... you will soon forget the pain, but you will have the memories..and the pix!
It was nice meeting and touring with you, guys.
Yeah, vis was on and off but at those times when it opened up and you could see the terrain, skiing was quite fun - .5-1" of sugar on top of 2' of soft mush. Actually much better than what I'd expected, given the warm weather.
Looks like fun, though i'm having a hard time seeing those pictures in the correct perception. For future, you can use mspaint and rotate the pictures with a click of a button that may help put them up the right way.
The warm andsunny are  it pretty easy to enjoy the day.  With stability in the winter those Glacier runs would be unreal.  Can't beat 3hr hike to a 3000ft Glacier run.

Grey's was a mission. But totally worth it lottery entry for 2014/15 is going to happen so many options in winter.

Agreed.

I'll see your Chouinard and raise you a Messner:

A "good" piece of snow?  I call that a BAD piece.

As I was booting up there Thursday, I was always keeping in mind my escape to safety plan even though the cliff looked bare and finished with sluffing for the year.  So glad you two were aware, and thank you for sharing this wake up call with the community, reminding us to stay vigilant.
