Saturday there were well-traveled snowshoe paths, firm enough to hike, throughout the area from Barn Flat to Narada Falls and Reflection Lake.  This maniac could have traveled a couple miles by the time poor Margaret was reached.  I'm worried about returning campers or today's early-birds.

I still can't believe it.  It was just yesterday morning that she stopped and smilingly confirmed Robie & I knew no parking was allowed at Canyon Wye...

Utterly disgusting and too sad for words.  I can't imagine explaining to your four year old daughter that she's never going to see her mommy again.  Hope the gunman freezes half to death tonight and the SWAT team takes care of the rest.

My thoughts are with the family of Ranger Margaret Anderson and the hundreds of law enforcement people, park rangers, and locked-down visitors who are dealing with the situation at Paradise this evening.

The Seattle Times article that JibberD referenced has been updated several times today and it has the most information I've seen in one place:

today.seattletimes.com/2012/01/park-rang...ot-at-mount-rainier/

I hope they catch the lunatic who did this quickly without anyone else getting hurt. The Times article says he went on another shooting rampage this morning in Skyway.

This is a tragedy. I really feel for the family she left behind. Wether or not it is right or wrong, more than likely the gun man will be put down like a rabid dog.

A terrible senseless tragedy. Condolences to her family. The News Tribune has more info about Margaret Anderson in this article, and also extensive coverage on their Adventure Guys blog:
