Set Yosemite on fire with badly judged "controlled" burn.

Got to love that NPS!
This is the same guy who wanted to ban skiers from accessing "his" park because of his feeling that it was detrimental. It took a law suit to get him to back down.
Such a superstar might be put in charge of your newly expanded NCNP.

Whatever your point of view, the political system is where you can be heard. It's all about funding.
Contact Parry Murray or Dino Rossi and tell them you wil not vote for either of them if they support the WMC inititiative, or the NC3 group or American Alp Project.
If you think otherwise , express those views aswell.
Here's Patty Murray's and I'll get Dino Rossi's up as soon as he forms his campaign website.

Thanks for your comments here. Your participation on TAY has made for good, interesting conversation. I just wanted to respond to another of comments that triggered a response from me:
Having a 2 minute hike on the side of the road as you drive by is not of any benfit to the greater population, only to those few that want their own adgenda realized.
I would argue that this kind of opportunity can have great social value. I share Scotsman's reaction to the "disneyfication" of parks and have the same contempt for park rangers trying to keep people from getting too far into NPS territory. On the other hand, there is clearly a great demand for RV-touring type use of NP's. As pointed out above, the summer tourists are significant (dominant in some areas of WA) user group with large economic and environmental impacts. They should be managed in the same manner as other, more 'serious', users like you and me. I bet lots of folks that visit the NP's in WA have experiences that are very meaningful to them. I don't feel like it is appropriate for me to dismiss their experiences just because I am not content to look at Mt. Ranier from Paradise. I hope their visits awaken a patriotic sense of duty to take care of the wild places we have just as I hope your riding in the cascades motivates you to take a stewardship role in the treatment of our shared treasure. I understand your desire to not lose opportunities to sled along the HWY 20 corridor; I support you and the heli-skiers, OB, and all the other current users. But to assert that visitor centers and the like serve nobody is dismissive.

Narrowly avoid criminal prosecution for financial irregularities with much favored concession holder.

And this is the type of leadership we want to entrust the protection and increasingly complicated stewardship of the precious highway 20 area to??????
How can the NPS allow this man to continue in his current role.????

americanalps.blogspot.com/2010/05/americ...adventure-to-dc.html
An excerpt.
"Peter Jackson and I visited Washington DC last week to promote the American Alps Legacy Project. It was a great trip. "Citizen lobbyists off to DC." We did not know what to expect, but were pleasantly surprised at the positive reception.
We visited with several people in the House (Doc Hastings and Cathy McMorris Rogers) and key staff for Patty Murray, Maria Cantwell, Rick Larsen, and Norm Dicks. We were also able to visit with Senate and House committee staffers (the people who make things happen).
We received no promises, but a lot of interest and encouragement. Fortunately, the North Cascades Mountains are an easy sell. They all wanted to get out sightseeing and hiking in the North Cascades this summer."
Counteract this lobbying effort by contacting the senatorial candidates and ask for them not to support these groups in their present form and call for an investigation into the Park superintendent who was reprimanded.
