I think you mean Chronology?
The report is published on the web. A simple three term Google search should find it for you. But since you appear to have already come to the conclusion that it wasn't either Uberuaga's fault or likely sufficient a bollox up that his career within the "service" shouldn't continue unimpeded.. why bother.

Good point. He used the word to describe the Park Superintendent's ethical problem as "unfortunate" and then he describes
the fire that occurred under Uberuaga's control as "unfortunate".
Anything that contradicts his argument that the NPS is suitable for governing the highway 20 area and that they are better stewards of this precious land than the current USFS.... is described as" unfortunate".
Maybe he's not so unbiased and level-headed as he suggests????

In case anybody is unclear as to the make up of this group.
Here's another excerpt from their blog
"The American Alps Legacy Project is a collaborative effort of the North Cascades Conservation Council, the Mountaineers Club, Republicans for Environmental Protection, Seattle Audubon, the University of Washington Climbing Club, and other partner organizations. For more information on the American Alps Legacy Project, visit www.americanalps.org .
Republicans for Environmental Protection........ ??? is that an oxymoron???? only joking
but it does raise a good point.
I wonder what candidate Dino Rossi's position is on this issue... namely park expansion, more funding, and the change of jurisdiction of the highway 20 area from USFS to NPS???
It's going to be a tight senate race and both candidates view on this matter ( and others of course) should be taken into account on how you vote.
A tight race also gives you " the people" an opportunity to leverage your position to maximum affect ... no matter what it is... they need every vote.
I say don't vote for any candidate that would support the American Alps Legacy Project in it's current form. In times of recession and fiscal responsibility.... increasing the funds for the inept bureaucracy that is the NPS is not the way to go.
Let the candidates know your views.

Scotsman, thank you for your apology for insulting my reading comprehension. Perhaps, when I'm not working on my physics PhD thesis, I'll be able to devote 100% of my time to memorizing / rereading all of the replies. Thank you for being so kind with all of your replies, not insulting poster's allegiances, their posts, or their motives. It has been a treat to be a part of this thread for those reasons.
PNWBrit,
As for the report, I did google several things, to no avail, Sorry I didn't spend considerable efforts, given that it sound like you had the link at hand. Thank you for assuming that I didn't even try, as that makes me look bad. Thank you dearly for giving me those three terms that you searched for, also, because that really helps me find the information. I have not jumped to conclusion about responsibility the fire, as I am not a fire control expert, which you apparantly are. But still, I would like to have a chance to make an informed decision, which you have not helped with.
It is indeed "unfortunate" that there is corruption that you have been speaking about. It is good to know that it exists (we could have already guessed it, however). It does make it less appealing if a superintendent were to have extreme power over NPS. I don't know the political structure within the NPS. I'll have to look at that during my own time.
I think I have been sufficiently attacked by incredibly 'polite' people, by claiming that I "have concluded it wasn't Ubureuaga's fault" (i haven't, as I have been asking for the info, but thanks for the misquote), and that I do not listen to anything that is contradictory to 'my' argument about NPS within the highway 20 area. You have been reinterpreting peoples quotes, reading 'between the lines' and falliciously telling that people have said things that they haven't. This is quite dishonest, and disheartening.

Acareys' explanation of biomass/hogfuel use in the west is very solid. It can be self sustaining in a cogeneration system with on hand waste, but that is a very small niche scenario. No way is it feasible on the broader landscape (not even with current tax incentives to defray capitalization of the facilities). It is a red herring and will fail, economically, but a demonstration project or two is not unreasonable.
I also like Acareys' (and others) discussion of the NRA model as an alternative to NPS mgt. Not sure it would be the right solution, but the exclusionary consequence of NPS dictum is, I feel, not in the public interest, here. On this matter, I agree with Scotsman.
To the more senatorial Jim Oker and a few others, your balanced contributions are appreciated. To would be preservationists, fight the good fight, here and there, but know that a multiple use, conservation minded model may be more appropriate for our already Park/Wilderness rich region.
I appreciate that 20 people will generate 20 differing opinions on where the balance of land use policy should be, but I will be encouraging my legislators to oppose NCNP expansion in its' current iteration

I can rest easy now.
