I've been absolutely loving my Zzero4, but I'm not sure how much use they'll get from now on since I've started using the two-buckle DyNA.
(My in-bounds boots though are race plugs, which although they have the same four buckles as my Zzero4, are more like the equivalent of eight buckles in AT terms.)

The BD Efficient series boots do look pretty cool but (acording to the specs) are heavier than the Zzeros (+7oz per 3 buckle and +5oz per 4 buckle).
Also the buckle configurations are totally different. The Zzero 3 are 1 up & 2 down while the BDs are 2 up & 1 down.
I’ve never skied a 3 buckle boot but I would think that for AT the 1 up (plus strap) and 2 down would give a better combination of walking flexibility/comfort and skiing control.
Anyone have any thoughts on 1up vs 2 up three-buckle boot theory?

BD just released their new Efficient series boot and ski specs

It appears the topic has drifted from the question of 3 vs. 4 buckles to one of Brand. I have been skiing on a pair of BD Methods for 2 seasons now, and except for the weight, I love them. 'Cause ya see, the lightest or smoothest skiing boot isn't worth a damn if it doesn't fit. After years of making constant mods to various Garmonts I gave up on their boot last. I tried stepping into Dynafits, but my feet said "No Way". The BDs work for my feet, period. The BD efficient series looks highly temping; I usually make boots last 3-4 seasons but I may have to make an exception for the 3 buckle "Prime". With the same 110 flex as the Methods but more than a pound lighter these look like the real deal...
And IMHO, I am a unbalanced personality but a balanced skier with quiet everything, and at 5' 10" and 190lbs manage to push around 175CM 95 waist 7.5 lbs Kilowatts easily.

Lou Dawson says most folks don't need 4 buckles, like few need DIN 12.

...and most people dont ski all that hard.
We could all ski on 160 skis with our DINs set to 5 in 2 buckle boots, but why? If that's your thing, go for it! But don't ask others what to do? Ask yourself what you want to do!

Amen brother trees4me, you said it well. And once in a while I do need DIN 12.
Squakmtn - this thread WAS about a brand - Dynafit zzero's, not about a generic 3 buckle vs 4 buckle debate. Check the first post.
