I have 3 buckle and 4 buckle zzeros. I always use the 3 buckle for bc skiing with my 7 summits (178 cm, 80 mm waist) and my Manaslus (187 cm, 95 mm waist). I now only use the 4 buckle on lift-served with my Atomic R:EX and Fritschi Freerides. The weight difference is not important to me in the bc, it is the freedom of movement, the slightly lower height, and the less hassle with 1 less buckle that I find preferable.
But Andy, how come you have been using the 4 buckle boots on your last 3 trips? Was it the breakable crust? The soft styrofoam? Certainly not the powder!

I own the 4 buckle Zzero. In bounds I wear a very stiff race boot. One of my biggest complaints in the BC skiing was that the boots I demo'd were like wearing leather hiking boots. No power at all. I then skied the Zzero on the Forbidden Tour. Bought it as soon as it was available. Hope this helps.
Couldn't agree more.. though the dude's already bought the 3 buckle version, I have the 4 buckle and absolutely love em - lightness + power = me happy
