Holy Crap - I had a friend on Facebook tell me, and another buddy confirm, that the Mountain Operations Manager at Mission jumped into this skinny slot in 1996. I remember having a lot of snow that year, but that seems terrifying to me!

Anyway, I guess our claim to first descent is false. (Dammit  :) )
Very nice - especially the pictures from the high perch!
This TR makes my feet hurt.
Wow one day winter tour! Nice.
Great photo Frank.
Thanks!

Mike - on that last photo, we probably could have skinned up and over if we were more determined but booting for 30 ft seemed more efficient.  Probably a bit of a weird perspective.  I shot the photo looking down at my two partners who were attempting to follow my poorly set bootpack...it was deep.
Adventure skiing! Love it! Way to think outside of the box.
Thanks for the great write-up.
Gawd that last photo. I can't even tell what manner of twisted up happened. Feels like we shouldn't be able to see the guy's skins!
Great photos....nice write-up too..timing perfect!!!

Thanks, I am digging the trip reports from up north. So much exploring to do... there is treasure everywhere.
Great shots, Dream trip for me. Have wanted to ski Shuksan for 30+ years. Gotto make it happen.

I thought the snow was pretty good, considering we are in a big warmup after > 1 foot of fresh Thursday night! Snowfield had not-too-sun-kissed powder, and the schmoo was luckily only the last 1-2 k to bridge.

Don't get me wrong, it was still fantastic skiing!! But always room to improve.  ;D

Nice job guys. Three FS personnel did pretty much the same route except the contoured the crater wall around above the old dome. This was a couple of years before MSH was opened back up to the public. There purpose was to scout the crater wall for the first ascent which happened a few years later. They opted to cross the Plains of Abraham then over which is arduous. I have circumnavigated Loowitakla twice, once solo. Even down low it is endless canyons and gullies.  Requires lots of route f...
Strong work- 3 hours to Muir! I thought about it but thought it might be wind scoured from the easterlies .
A little bit of poorly shot video.

Skied it today too - way too late, around 2:30. Slush and thigh burning sensations from the top to the bridge and passed huge table sized pinwheels. Melting fast. Gate was open at 8:30, but we dilly dallied with the car shuttling and only got started up at 10.
John, great to see a post from you, seems like it's been awhile. I'll have to twist your tail though, stopping before the col, what's up with that???

Pigeon spire pic is fantastic.
Thanks for the report.  I know it's a pain, but I would love a picture or two.
What a great trip, thanks for the post.
Very nice video and tunes - great outing Jeff & Jason

Yurt life (turn about is fair play!)

Touche!
Thanks mike for putting this all together, Ill add a few pictures. The trip in was a slog for me, I would think about hiring another porter for the beer! It's a great place with terrain that requires double diapers.

Yurt life (turn about is fair play!)
Thanks All!
Kamtron,  You and I will be "Relieved" to hear that Jason had a healthy bowel movement, a few days following... :D
some of the best pics ever!
Thanks for sharing !....long gone is the straight-forward approach that made the colouir a reasonable objective. Glad I tapped it several times when the getting was good. It is hard to view it and not want a shot skiing it. From experience, It isn't in good ski shape a lot of times in spring and when it smooths out, the pack is getting shallower and some rocks come into play.
Sweet trip, guys!
My cousin, as a child, had an experience with gummy bears that landed her in the hospital... luckily the laxatives worked.
Those views into the crater... tempting!
