well you had a busy weekend...thanks for sharing the stoke!
It sure did turn into a great day. The visibility, the snow, the sun......It was all good! You also said "Hi" to my wife in the up track, who later commented "That guy was stoked!". Looks like the forecast is calling for more of the same the next few days. Happy turns.......
Nice to meet ya, it was a splitter day. We ended up doing a few summit laps. Too good to leave.
We went back there on the 20th, dropping to Lake Annette. Deepest/best cover conditions I've ever enjoyed for the main drop; Lake A 99% frozen. Descent was a tad firm that day despite the sun. Exit snowshoe trough was variable; we probably skied 50% of the trail. There was enough snow in the parking lot to inhibit regular cars. Bicycle back to Silver Fir to pick up car with semis whizzing by on I-90 was legal and fun if not too safe.
Nice vid! Love it when the shadow lines up that way, and the dog!
One of my all-time faves! Thanks for the fond memory enhancement report and photos!

Glad I rode that a couple times 10 years ago. What a zoo!! #interwebs kill
Yeah it's really picked up around here in the last couple years. But such is the nature of touring within 300 km of a major urban centre. It would have been nice to have the mtn all to ourselves but the vibe up there was pretty fun with everyone so stoked to be up there on such a nice d...

Goleary nice report. Great pics of the surrounding area. And great memories for me.
You asked about Shot 8. I haven't skied Alp for a long time and I've never been too good on nomenclature but if it is the large cleft in the buttress in your 1st pic that was first skied in ~1971 by Mike Prettie (sp?) head of pro patrol and later the Alpental area manager and, I think, Skip Hodley (sp?) also on the pro patrol (later head of patrol). It might have been Craig Wilbur, also on th...

Holy Crap - I had a friend on Facebook tell me, and another buddy confirm, that the Mountain Operations Manager at Mission jumped into this skinny slot in 1996. I remember having a lot of snow that year, but that seems terrifying to me!
Anyway, I guess our claim to first descent is false. (Dammit :) )

Very nice - especially the pictures from the high perch!
Thanks!
Mike - on that last photo, we probably could have skinned up and over if we were more determined but booting for 30 ft seemed more efficient. Probably a bit of a weird perspective. I shot the photo looking down at my two partners who were attempting to follow my poorly set bootpack...it was deep.

Adventure skiing! Love it! Way to think outside of the box.
Thanks for the great write-up.
Gawd that last photo. I can't even tell what manner of twisted up happened. Feels like we shouldn't be able to see the guy's skins!

Great shots, Dream trip for me. Have wanted to ski Shuksan for 30+ years. Gotto make it happen.

I thought the snow was pretty good, considering we are in a big warmup after > 1 foot of fresh Thursday night! Snowfield had not-too-sun-kissed powder, and the schmoo was luckily only the last 1-2 k to bridge.
Don't get me wrong, it was still fantastic skiing!! But always room to improve. ;D

Nice job guys. Three FS personnel did pretty much the same route except the contoured the crater wall around above the old dome. This was a couple of years before MSH was opened back up to the public. There purpose was to scout the crater wall for the first ascent which happened a few years later. They opted to cross the Plains of Abraham then over which is arduous. I have circumnavigated Loowitakla twice, once solo. Even down low it is endless canyons and gullies. Requires lots of route f...
Strong work- 3 hours to Muir! I thought about it but thought it might be wind scoured from the easterlies .
A little bit of poorly shot video.
