Yeah it's gooooooood!
Dawn patrollers might avoid the rain tomorrow
Thanks for the report, looks nice!
How far is the 9737 drivable?
Meant to ridge North of the Rainy Pass road and south facing runs.
The south face of Jove is a great line.  The approach via the Ridge on Union Peak is straight forward, but the wind can create cornice features that makes for a bit of meandering back into the dense trees.  The only part of this tour that I would like to explore, would be to be able to navigate a way up the ridge to the east of Rainy Pass and not ski the road but a ski a line that would drop you down onto the road closer to where you leave the road on the approach.  The terrain lo...
Nice work, John!  I'm impressed but where were you last season?!?  😉
Nice! Did you sled up there?  I heard on the news that the central Cascades are at 110% of normal snowpack. Should be a good Stuart season.
Wow..what a great trip report and video ...thanks for posting
i took these from the valley when you were coming down the white salmon.

Yup, I stare at it too when ever I'm up there.  Its such a cool line right in your face from the lodge.  Maybe the trees have grown up and you can't see it any more from there, IDK.  Reminds me of High Rustler at Alta only just a bit more work.

...wow, what an amazing animal!

My favorite spirit animal, one that I've been lucky enough to actually see twice. Thanks for posting your fine images, Radka!

Interesting study of wolverine reactions to winter recreation in the Rockies:

Thank you all for your kind comments.

I contacted NPS with photos and emailed with their wildlife biologist who confirmed that this is indeed wolverine. I was hesitant to leave the photos up for concerns that somebody may harm the animal, with the location of tracks made public, but I was told that is very unlikely as wolverines travel so much and this animal may be hundreds of miles away by now.

I have since read up a bit on wolverines and, wow, what an amazing animal!
Thanks for the wonderful pictures, your Wolverin track are perfect. Now that's an animal not intimidated by a little open space! I have been lucky to see a half dozen sets through the years, but never the maker.
Spectacular pictures as always, Radka, and good to know the tracks ID; we had seen what in hindsight is the same track pattern out there a few years back.  Glad to see tracks and not the source of the tracks in my vestibule!
...always enjoy your amazing photos!  One thing I learned doing a little BC skiing in Montana is if you follow animal tracks it will most likely be the most efficient route up the mountain (as long as they're traveling in the same general direction as you want to).  Unfortunately, we don't get to see much wildlife in a lot of our close-in PNW BC destinations.  Nice to see wolverine tracks! Go Blue! (you Michigan fans  / aluums will get it).
Thank you!

So, apparently, we also took pictures of wolverine tracks. They were identified on NWHikers so adding photos here.

Great pictures as usual.... inspiring me to get out for a few days... thanks!!
Great photos and report, thanks!
I was with a group that skied the three Snoqualmie Couloirs on Sunday. We found Dave's rappel anchor, but opted to ski the face. We found the snow on the upper face to be perfect (best few turns of the tour). Getting from the end of the rappel to the bottom of the couloir was a very icy traverse, but fairly low consequence.

I've included a picture from above the face. Picture and video from below here:  https://www.instagram.com/p/Bgyu2AKFcnJ/?taken-by=whatsarapp
Thanks for the report, Charlie.
It was a good weekend  ;D
Cool! Any shots of the spine face entrance to the Snot? It looked from afar like they weren't in, but they very well could be.
Great pics as usual, Scott. We should plan a tour. Those slanted couloirs in pic 3 are nifty! Reminds me of some stuff I saw in Chile
Cool day. Looked like perfect snow from the picture. That long rap in must be fun.  I seldom have fun on a rappel, but adding powder skiing a steep - and that might do it!
Sounds like you had a great weekend!! Nice photos :-)
Only good pic from my phone
Shangrila!!!!!!!  Thanks for the post--pics...
Great photos! It was fun sat too, tho a bit sticky in places.
Thanks for the history lesson Eric.  I can't help but stare up at that thing every time I head back into the alpental Valley.
"Bicycle back to Silver Fir"
Animals!
Sunday 3/25 update:

An injury question mark had us bail from full day plans deep in the woods for a half day afield off the Jim Hill Bowl.

The existing skinners kept it easy on us and we did the Lanham/Henry loop with two laps in 4:34, including the walk back to the nordic center. Around 5k and 8.5 miles with the walk and a couple snack breaks.

Lots of rigs around Nason Ridge and the Arrowhead parking indicate folks taking advantage of the excellent conditions.
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing
well you had a busy weekend...thanks for sharing the stoke!
It sure did turn into a great day.  The visibility, the snow, the sun......It was all good!  You also said "Hi" to my wife in the up track, who later commented "That guy was stoked!".  Looks like the forecast is calling for more of the same the next few days.  Happy turns.......
Nice to meet ya, it was a splitter day. We ended up doing a few summit laps. Too good to leave.
We went back there on the 20th, dropping to Lake Annette.  Deepest/best cover conditions I've ever enjoyed for the main drop; Lake A 99% frozen.  Descent was a tad firm that day despite the sun. Exit snowshoe trough was variable; we probably skied 50% of the trail. There was enough snow in the parking lot to inhibit regular cars. Bicycle back to Silver Fir to pick up car with semis whizzing by on I-90 was legal and fun if not too safe.
Thanks for the report!
Nice vid!  Love it when the shadow lines up that way, and the dog!
One of my all-time faves!  Thanks for the fond memory enhancement report and photos!

Glad I rode that a couple times 10 years ago. What a zoo!! #interwebs kill

Yeah it's really picked up around here in the last couple years. But such is the nature of touring within 300 km of a major urban centre. It would have been nice to have the mtn all to ourselves but the vibe up there was pretty fun with everyone so stoked to be up there on such a nice d...
Great conditions for Slalock.

Thanks for the TR.
Awesome to say the least!
Great looking acceptable snow!

Best post EVER!!!!!!!!
Goleary nice report. Great pics of the surrounding area. And great memories for me.

You asked about Shot 8. I haven't skied Alp for a long time and I've never been too good on nomenclature but if it is the large cleft in the buttress in your 1st pic that was first skied in ~1971 by Mike Prettie (sp?) head of pro patrol and later the Alpental area manager and, I think, Skip Hodley (sp?) also on the pro patrol (later head of patrol). It might have been Craig Wilbur, also on th...
