darn it - i keep misspelling the name. Toby - its the trees just to the east of the slide path. The path had some debris.

Silas obviously trying to rub my nose in it regarding my heli-trip.
Nah, just jealous, but not enough to return to paid employment to fund heli life. ;)

Looks pretty good for non-heli skiing! ;) Way to get it, you don't know if you don't go.
very nice Chris.

And yes, those were our tracks further up.
Nice work Chris (et all). It would have been fun to run into you up there- or at least in the lot for the post ski beers. Next time.

Conditions up at WA pass are superb at the moment despite the lackluster conditions down here.

Surprisingly good conditions yesterday. Above 4600 about a foot of fairly light snow on solid thick crust.

Saturday was definitely the good day out at Steven's. Bluebird skies and light pow waiting to be found sure beats the trap crust and widely variable conditions we experienced Sunday. Both very nice days out, maybe someone will post a tr. Here are a few pics of our (moscawulf, alecapone and my) day out on Sat.
And yes, those were our tracks further up. Surprisingly good low density snow and well bonded to the crust below. And best of all, did not ever feel bottom above 4,500 feet...

It's "Duffey" Lee. Nice trip! Is that the equinox slide path extending down towards the clearcut in your first pic?
LOVE the andriod phone!!!!!!! soon our GPS toys will be obsolete, very soon.
We were out from about 10:30 until 2:30 and you're spot-on about being soaked. Amazingly good snow considering the weather!

It was a great sunny day, eh? Lot's of people up there enjoying the day.
Did you happen to get any more shots of Tye with the lines a little more lookers right?
Alecapone- Here's a wide angle view that I cropped down a bit. The tracks in the previous pic are off the little knob far left of this view but they are hard to see as its overexpose...

Another nice one from the icicle creek!
Glad to hear the slide was just a minor lesson.
Thanks Ale! In retrospect the slide really wasn't that big, but you certainly don't realize it when you're in the middle of it with no control anymore. Sure feels much bigger.
Chris: The road is closed, meaning a 3 mile approach t...
Glad you all got home safely - looks like a beautiful day.
Well played. I was just down the road, wet to the bone, and turning around at 4500'.
What time did you guys get started?

Sounds like a fun trip. Glad the scare was only a scare. Are you able to drive to the parking lot on 8 Mile road?
I was up there for a few laps in the afternoon. Saw 10-15 people not including the mtneers. Excellent snow for about 300 feet of vertical, then it was character building to say the least below that. My rockered skis seemed to combat the breakable crust in a way that made it almost fun.
:D A whole new meaning to being buried by your work.
We ran into the Mountaineers but they were digging pits, doing beacon practice etc. so were not going up high. They missed all the good stuff. Saw maybe a dozen other people-more than usual. I think the water-in-the-desert theory is exactly right.
Sounds like you got some fairly good snow and missed the Mountie's. How was Lyra's trail breaking?
We (2 skiers, 2 splitters) got up early and got a few laps in before the groups showed. But they seemed more focused on instruction than getting a lot of turns in.
Sunny for most of the day and the conditions were nice up top. In the trees, I'd even say great, but that might be the talk of a man wandering through the desert and finally being given a glass of water. The crust more or less went away until right before we got back to our uptrack.

Thanks condtions report. We where wondering how Yodelin would be while riding nearby. Sounds like you got better then we expected as well. Hope the crust wasn't too hard on Lyra.
where there a lot of people there? I thought the mounties where doing a ski touring class outing at yodelin this weekend.

Nice nitrile gloves! What do you use those for?
Nitrile gloves are another little necessity for me, especially with my Raynaud's Disease (hands and feet loose circulation with cold exposure).
I use them over my liner gloves whenever the liners might get wet, like setting up the tent, taking skins off, or even adding clothing when the outer layer is...

We did 2 runs each on the NW and NE sides of the high point of Sunset Ridge (NE bowl in the third photo), three on the east and west Lodge Runs. Lots of surprisingly good corn and mush, but also some manky crust and old soft-slide boulders.
We passed your class in the PM! But I felt lame interrupting so we skinned on by.
Probably would have lost a lap if we had stopped ::)
Heres some pics of today! Bluebird and powder. Doesn't get much better then this.

I'm glad to hear of the nukage in my homeland. I might be heading back there in a couple of weeks.
Thanks for the stoke.

Nice! Glad to hear you all got some. I figured even if the avy danger was high you all would still find a way. Have fun tomorrow, and try to take a few pics so the rest of us can salivate over them.
I was wondering how Saturday went. I would have joined you all if I had known about the plan switch. Sounds like I didn't miss out.
Well, it all turned to heavy today. I tried to race the freezing levels up lichtenburg, but I am too slow, and I slept too late. It wet snowed on me until about 4,500', and then it turned to rain. So, I turned around. It was not very fun on the way down, even with one big water ski.

I'll be there bud. Last years injuries prevented me from doing the avi field trip, so I only have MTR 1. This tour was part business trip. I was meeting a surveyor up there to plot out where to put the foundation for my snow fortress.
Sweet! Building the snow fortress is the best part about MTR.

Wow! Never thought that I could be so Stoked over 5"! If one blasted their Ipod... the sound of car crashing ice underneath... went totally undetected!
