Thanks. Wow! Shoot me!
Wow. You'd have to be high on crack(illegal) not to floored by terrain like that! Cool photos.
Nice Joe! Sunday at the Pass was really nice too! Looking forward to touring with you again soon....
Thanks! The trail was nearly buried in places by the time we were skinning up... but that's usually a good problem to have!
yeah, i was wishing i hadn't left my crampons in the car at several points... a Rick Perry "oops" moment ;) did you break the trail up to East Peak? Thanks to whoever did!
Man that skin up was a pain I am so glad I had my ski crampons.
We caused a few sluffs on North facing aspects with a ski cut, that turned out to be about a foot deep.

Next season YOU are coming...... mandatory.
Oh, well only 20 hours each way...
couple of those trips and I can just start collecting retirement checks when I get home.

OMG....
Don't ever post stuff like that again or I will never sleep again until I ski it.

With the only clues as "Prince Rupert", "Cold Sweat", and "Dome" I won't share the Google results.

Nice. I've heard of this glorious locale, thanks for sharing. Unicorn farts- sounds like ground breaking renewable energy.

If only they would invent a worldwide interconnection of computers that would allow one to search for this kind of information. ::)
Sorry for the sarcasm but having spent 4 days on close proximity to PNWBrit(Banned) I couldn't help it.

Especially this Mary hottie. I'm a bit of a preggophile. 5 1/2 months on is the hottest trimester.
This is the sort of sick thing that goes through your mind when you are lying in the dark in your snowcave isn't it??
You're one sick puppy!

That looks fantastic!
Way to take a chance.

Indeed. Redtop was quite nice, too. Even got some sun near the summit.
Awesome boys!!
Would love to go there some day, looks spectacular!
Were they able to procure a new lot of squirrels to replace the worn out ones that power the lifts??
Also, is just the mention of PNWBrit( Banned) also frowned upon?

Same thing happened to me at Stevens Pass (ski area) in less-visited IB cliff terrain on two separate occasions. On NE facing, the other N facing. parralel tracks, good speed, exciting light powder explosion when it ran into trees.
FWIW, right at Power line gap the wind was howling in the afternoon and by 3:00pm that whole east facing slope there was loading rapidly (fill in between runs) and starting to propagate laterally.

author=John Morrow link=topic=24096.msg101811#msg101811 date=1331524944] To our surprise on the end of a longer ski cut, at a small tree, a release just wide as the length of my skis ran on the rain crust. It was odd because it didn't fan out like a sluff, it also didn't fracture into a greater slab, it simply ran fast with two beautifully parallel flanks. The path width stayed about the true length of my skis the whole way.
More pics please?

Thanks Jeff - were all of those ECT & CT results Q1 shears? They looked pretty 'crisp'. Thanks for raising our awareness a bit.
They were all Quality 1 or as the Canadians would say Sudden Collapse. No question on the quality. If you were to trigger this layer on a larger slope it would not be good.
For those of you riding closer to the Ca...

Yes, we walked down to the dog leg because the top portion was wind scoured down to hard crust. Just below that we carefully avoided an obvious wind slab, then made wonderful turns down through soft snow to the valley. The exit notch was similar - soft, unconsolidated snow on the crust most of the way, and hard wind scoured crust near the top that we booted up. Beautiful morning out!...

Thanks Powderjunkie I had a great time. Thank you soo much for showing me the Eastern Sierras
awesome Kyle. Glad you pulled it off and it was great riding with you down here.
Mega lamp was in use but only so Rob and I could see each other on the way down. Certainly didn't need it out in the open.
Nice one Jim, good job getting after it at short notice! Too much fun huh?
Thanks for trying to lure me into playing hooky. You are an inspiration, even if I'm ignoring you a little too much at the moment, Silas.
Ale.. Definitely some good memories from the night trip and the year as a whole. Would love to do another tour with you sometime this year. If you're game give me a call the day after one of your big multi-day trips so I stand a chance of keeping up! :)
Pretty stoked how much interest there is in my humble abode.
Big step up from the trenches I was using last year.
Learning some lessons on what not to do. Got to get out this summer and scope some new real estate.

Did you need to use your mega lamp, or was it bright benough without?

Nice one Jim. That brings back some memories...
Great call Ben. Thanks for dragging me out and for the delicious mt dew. Cold, refreshing... do the dew.
Funny John, but you know me better. Those are army surplus mittens I bought in the mitten shaped state over ten years ago. $5 + snow seal. I just picked up a puffy on clearance at fred meyer. 30$ to go with my 20$ vest.
Tecnnically, the helmet is the biggest dollar item on my person, but it's for my girl. Glad you guys like it? I'm renting space on it for a go...

Good for you. I was thinking Moonlight Bowl under the full moon. I had to settle for road biking.

There were a couple of headlamps heading down from Source Lake after 10pm as well.
The source lake head lamps were my partner and I. It was more of a snow shoe tour but, brought our boards to take advantage of gravity were could. Made a couple turns from lunchbox rock down the lake. Great snow. 8 inches on top of a soft crust. It i...
