Thanks for the fun trip Joe! It was nice to get out in the sunshine. I do think Browder holds lots of potential, it's just like anything in the area, very condition/weather dependent. Looking forward to a return trip!
Wow, what a cool point to point tour. Thanks for sharing.

Y'all didn't miss much, but skiing's still fun.
Better'n a poke in the eye with a sharp stick for sure!
I was up on the 24th scouting a new up track up the arm for a different approach to Lake Ann. I saw your up track and man was it tempting to go play over there. However I was solo and got a late start so I stayed with my original plan.

Right on, ebeam. We got it Monday by going Dog Chute on Table over to the high west gullies into Mazama Bowl to valley then traversing clockwise until reaching Clean Slate. We didn't have time for that big bowl you got (which probably wasn't stable enough yet anyway) - glad you got it. What a brilliant tour. Ridiculously deep in there right now. You couldn't ski out the alleys in those trees in a week.

I usually don't post TRs re a pedestrian tours like Granite. Figured I'd offer an assessment of a schmoo tour.
Hope you and the lurkers on this site will post condition reports with greater frequency, whether or not the tour is pedestrian or epic. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. That upper section of Newton is so fun! Did you climb the chute you skied or another route?
We skinned up mostly climbers left of the chute trying to avoid the gullies. Once or twice we dipped into the chute to assess conditions.

Awesome tour Ryan! It was great to run into you out there. Sorry we got sidetracked by some shady powder and missed skiing on Chair Peak with you. Another time. :)
Nice meeting up with you, Ryan. Three big tours in one. Whew! This is definitely a Monika approved day. Her spirit was with you.
That connection from Red over to Snoqualmie East summit sure is a tricky one. A new classic! ;)

Nice writeup. Thanks for sharing.
The subject matter works for me. Nice trip Ryan, you covered a lot more ground than I do in my rare solo trips.
That sounds like a really nice route. At least it was a beautiful day, if the skiing conditions were less than ideal.
I thought we could ski guilt free until at least april 14th without worrying about taxes ;D

Sweet photos Black Dog! We were ogling your tracks from down in Newton yesterday, wishing we got back in there a little earlier - such a nice day.

Nice work today..that run you made off gnarl looked really good..You guys timed it perfectly...Can't wait to try it myself. I was in the group you bumped into on your last run into Newton on Pea Gravel.
Thanks. It was one of those perfect days on Hood where conditions came together to make the attempt safe and enjoyable.
Nice work Gentlemen! Kevino - I was wondering where you were going to go. Glad you found some partners.

Axis it is! We were hoping to find you ahead of us putting in the skin track, you know. By the way, John, where did you ever find the line off the true summit??? Dang it is thin!
J
It is almost always too thin on that one, but that gully sure fills in nicely! Is 8 Mile Road still all snow or is there some hiking to do?
Thanks for the uptrack. We followed it to crown face, above which it was mostly blown over/away!
We also had a great day! Powder and steeps!
We were the first ones (left the car at 8:30 or so) but there were at least 15 people headed out towards Shuksan. They were always in the distance though so I'm not sure where they all skied...
I thought it would be cloudy today, should be skiing right now... oh well, chores are backed up and it's going to get snow...

In the picture behind the tele dude taking the "rest step" - must've been that strong young man putting in that turn in the uptrack - going UP!
While the rest of you were butt wigglin', your wife was sending it! Way to time it, Mike - wish I could've joined you and glad y'all stuck it perfect. More unsatisfied customers, Larry!
Nah, no pics, John. I usually don't post TRs re a pedestrian tours like Granite. Figured I'd offer an assessment of a schmoo tour.

You should really watch out for those random solo dudes named kevin....
Yeah, that dude was shady for sure! We should have known he was a TAY'er. Can't never trust someone in that crowd.

Granite via SW ridge was the tits today. We took a conservative ascent route, gaining the SW ridge from the W. Sun stayed behind the clouds for a safe, at times crusty, ascent. Then the sun came out for awhile and softened things a bit. We launch off the summit with perfect timing. Fun linked turns for 2000' off the top in pre-schmoo then schmoo. Slush in the lower trees. Glided...

Sorry to hear about the breakage Silas -- price of the beta-test. Sounds like they skied pretty damn well up until that point. I've been putting my K skis through the paces in the last week, but they're not quite the 5.5 lb featherweights that the Wilds are...

eastern temptations... looks sweet!
Nice! Been drooling over some lines on the gnarl all season.
Darn, you guys beat me to the punch, I was going to attach a photo and comment. Anyway, I broke the ski right behind the heel, because I had my weight way too far back in 12" of wet, cooked snow. My marketing spin on it is "they are great training skis because the make you pay if you ski them with bad technique".
Yes they are made by Dr. Kam Leang, The Ski Lab, and against his better judgement, he agreed to make them superlight for me. He was surprised they did no...

Those skis look like a Kam concoction? How do you like them Silas?
Uh, that looks more like asymmetrical non stock tail rocker...

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about going in there tomorrow. I've always gone in from the south. How close do you think you can get if you approach from the north?
Ya know, it's hard to say for sure, but I'll bet that by Sunday you should be able to at least drive to the L1000/4109 split, which only leaves a couple of miles. What's n...
My partner and I briefly considered Silverstar for today. It's been on the list for years, but always seems to get passed up for other tours. Nice work even if conditions were less than ideal.

spotted silas with his "wild" skis sporting new tail rocker.
Great dog shots, Will: they earned the right to have the last word, in Photobucket. (Too bad I missed that one.) N

In the interest of accuracy: Crispin set the track, and I packed it down a bit more, struggling to keep him in sight way ahead. We felt a need to reuse it again today and found quite alpine breeziness in the upper bowl.
Many of the TAY elite were spotted as we all made the same return from several different directions. Lotsa side country baggy clothed dudes escaped from the local ski lifts to join us in the near backcountry. Super windy in the AM, mean gray clouds looked like they would take over and then Mr Sun reached his high point for the day and burned them all away. Fun in the sun, and only an hour drive from home, where it is also quite nice now.
Yup those lines are all in the Silver Creek drainage, some sweet stuff out there.
Dang! All I needed yesterday was a nudge and I would've tipped away from work and into the snow. We could have had another drifter reunion. Glad you got out, Ed.
Nice vid and some seriously sweet lines!
Is that terrain in the Silver Cr. drainage?
