Don't know but you are surely the Joker ;D
Thanks for the report - might head out to the Teanaway area next weekend.
Which one will be BATMAN and who (or is it whom?) will be Robin? Both CAPE CRUSADERS I'm sure....
Thanks for the props, dudes. Kam, we oughtta get out again this spring.
Libteched: we saw some tracks on a north-facing slope between Angeles and the visitors center... I assume they were yours, since you guys buzzed on past us in the morning. Did you see any other skiers? We saw no human sign all day except your tracks in the distance.
Sorry you got shut out the next day. Did the ranger give the reason? Wet slides on the road?
We got to the gate at 0830 Saturd...

I'll have to pile on with the great day! Great snow, great company and bluebird weather. Nice pictures, thanks for the post.
The start of the frenzy.

The end result.

Fantastic; looking forward to checking it out. Thanks!
"The Choke" (following our gun parts naming) is just south of the Gunsight facing north (same as gunsight). The pic is taken from the basin below The Gunsight.

The Choke
First, congrats on getting out safely, and hope you heal up well. Thanks for the TR.
Secondly, I'm familiar with a lot of the Pilchuck area, but this is the first I've heard of "The Choke"....can anyone point me to where that is?
We did not dig any pits. Snow stability was good all around for the most part. There was wind loading on N, NE, NW faces. We saw a party kick off a wind slab on the NW face of Pattison. It was small but ran for a while. There was evidence of wet slides on sun warmed slopes from previous days. And we traversed through some fairly significant wind pockets on the lower section of the Overlord glacier and were unwilling to try skiing Fissile's N face due to h...
Did you dig some pits? Did snow stability seem good?
Excellent day... We saw y'all parked at the turn out and were stoked to see an Alpental hat. We found similar conditions and some great turns along klahhane. Our goal was to do Angeles Sunday but upon arrival we were informed the road would be closed for the day.... Access can be a real bummer.

Now the Park Service is going to be looking for a PAIR of 'hoods' with ski masks and bolt cutters (Avajane and Dave..)--The new DYNAMIC DUO!
Snuck into the backside of Stevens Pass but was by myself. The Nordic road had been groomed the day before! Will be skiing with Dave soon. Just couldn't meet up this time.

Congratulations: you made pretty good time (and wise decisions) considering conditions and the late lift start. My partner and I skied Pattison on Friday (I'm the last of the four dots on flickr #194 trudging toward the N col): the snow looked great but much of it didn't ski that well, esp S facing slopes cooked by the sun. Great photo-op conditions, though. Niko
Wow! That is some amazing scenery! Thanks.
I'm comfortable in steep terrain, but those pics over at skisickness.com still made my palms sweaty!
Chalk up and don a huggy!

WaHOO! Here is some of that graupel:

Thanks for the report and the photos, Ben. I agree. One of the best days of the year. (I'm pretty sure you were part of all of the other best days of the year too).

Sick indeed. Nice one, Tabski.

The first day we found some pretty good pockets. The second day was skiing on hard crust and caaaareful turns with heavy packs… things changed overnight. A few edges caught and heavy packs with significant momentum sent us rolling more than once. But… once again, it was fun all around and a great adventure.
Right on Pete, sounds like a rational, enjoyable venture. That's an attractive line--next time.
Nice write up DT. Insanely fun jaunt; wanted this line for a long time.
Haha Gregg; the only laws broken were on the drive up as I got a little overstoked in the sport-cart. "Oops, I'm going over 90".
Jonn-E: unfortunately, it was impossible to get set up for a good pic of the final impressive send. A few more pics and details here: http://skisickness.com/post/vt533-26-apr-2014-chair-peak-ef-and-neb

Nice TR, thanks. The Spearhaed is a classic, maybe for another year before the hut(s) are built and change the area forever. From the videos on flickr the skiing looks pretty good, better that described.
Nice man. I was trying to ride the NE face of 8 mile on the 25th but a string of bailing ski partners forced me to go climbing.
Nice Pete. That is a fun area.
Hope that gate opens up soon before I move.

Nice pictures, Scott, and it looks like good pow in some pics
Looks like one sweet tour, thanks for the report.
Yikes! Cool report, and thanks altasnob for providing a bit of extra visual perspective.
I am pretty sure I will not be emulating you guys, but it's fun to read/see from the comfort of home.
Wimpy old Snoqualmie Pass has quite the variety of recreational options!

Thanks for the captions. I was wondering what these weird squiggly lines in the slope were. Some climbers who really like their switchbacks??
Cool descent! Thanks for posting your trip.
Insane line. Fun watching you guys from the ridge

Now that is cool. Been wanting to ski that route since 1990. Very nice!
Any locks cut or trees cut??.... Had to check first.
If not nice work gentlemen.

yeah, you win again! that was humbling impressive given the conditions and exposure etc etc etc....
praxis under foot?

mmm... begbie IPA - the taste of Selkirk powder!
Color me impressed.
Any media of the "final rap" decent?

Ooh. Nice find. Was at the pass for the long weekend and found deteriorating conditions, going from decent pow on top of slop on Friday to horrifying trap crust on Saturday to begbie IPA at Village Idiot on Sunday.
Not fessing up to the bolt cutting off the bat was your biggest blunder. Had you just claimed you did it for the cause, hell, you'd go to jail for the cause, everyone would be cool with that. You'd might even pass Scottsman as TAY's #1 poster.
There is no good reason why the road isn't open to wherever the snow line is. The road is paved, so less risk of ruts like on dirt roads. And they could post a sign that says you have to display your Rainier Park pass, and m...

This is a story of a great adventure.
Fair enough. But mountaineering, yes. Ski mountaineering (or ski alpinism), no.
sweet--THANKS FOR THE TR- gotta check it out sometime...
