A bad winter in the PNW is better than a good year in most other parts of the US...

The unpredictability is something we might be able to hang our hats on.

Good bumper sticker...Pretty much sums up my life in a nutshell.

WHAT??????

I know, I know.....pretty lame. At least I have some lint in my pocket I can use to knit a hat maybe...at this point.

I'm assuming that by that way the Squirrel-O-Meter is getting poo-poo'ed that the upstart climatologist won't be using this empirical evidence to write their doctoral thesis. ::)
Don't fight it, the animals know better than all the computer models on the planet. ;)

It does seem odd to admit that I am getting some mixed emotions about all this great weather - wondering just when the other shoe will drop, and what it means for the winter.

Here's a related question:  Why so little smog?  Usually after just a few days of clear weather, the inversion kicks in, and the Puget Sound Basin get stuffed up.  We haven't had very much wind.

If you want smog, just come to Wenatchee...

Well, now. Thing is with the weather is that it tends to stay the same until for some reason or other it changes. That shows up in the CPC extended forecasts. But, by gosh, it has changed (or is about to) and in a big way. Not only are we looking at some good rainfall in the near future (especially Saturday night and Monday night and Tuesday) but the long 6 to 10 day and 8 to 14 days Outlooks continue wet. And the ridge is nowhere to be seen in the 500 mb forecasted plots for the 16th to the 22nd; it is strictly zonal flow with not a hint of a ridge. Can this really be?

I lived in So Cali 04-05.

We got 9" snow in Joshua Tree that lasted 24 hours - surreal...

I passed on my White Pass pass this past Spring (whew!) 'cause the the CPC 9.5 month lead, 3 month outlook, prophesised  what is now on our short term plate.

If you want to take this to the global warming level, I've been postulating for a while that Revelstoke will be the new Aspen - seems 6 or 7 degrees of latitude shift is more correct, so Bozeman or Whitefish may be the next billionaire hangout...    who knew? shop early!

But I think Joe is right - the nuts tell the story..
