Yeah, I'm going to cut some foam blocks to fill that space. I've been very careful to clear the tour lever area and the HDPE card has fixed most of the ice-cubing there, but the area under the boot is the problem. Sounds like the foam is the better band-aid there.

In my experience any sort of solution with plastic filler has not gone well. When the plastic gets scratched that leaves a spot for ice to attach. Then the problem, well.. gets more problematic.

If anyone has ever seen the deck of R8's they have a different shiny plastic that is a bit better for shedding snow as I remember. Tap plastics stock that material. It's called polycarbonate and it comes in very thin sheets and cuts with common carpentry tools. I was thinking about getting some and giving that a whirl... Anyone try that yet?

I haven't tried that tele.skier, no -- the problem seems to be that there's just so much flat area under there that it doesn't matter how slick things are, the snow still accumulates. A slick surface makes it easier to pop the snow out (a couple of whacks with the pole handle was working for me), but it still builds up.

Also, I'm a weak, weak man. I'll have these later in the week:

I have my doubts about that TTS set up's ability to resist lateral force without the triangular support of the locked heel. I supose only time will tell if that will work.

I had a lot of snow jamming under my binding saturday as the temperatures warmed up. I also had the same thing to a lesser degree on sunday. I fabricated the polycarbonate inserts last night for 2 pair of bindings and am gonna hit silver fir chair this morning to see if it helps...

Curious how the pc inserts will do -- let us know.

I have my doubts about the TTS as well, but he has a "conversion kit" available if you have Dyna toes sitting around, which I do. That knocked the price down a bit and the allure of the spring/summer touring season with much less weight was too much to resist. We'll see how it works!
