I could see with a little modification to the toe area to get more of the midfoot involved including the dynafit prongs how that could make a nice light bc rig.

Also yesterday Telemarkski.com had NTN bindings for $199, I see they sold out and are offering at more today only @$229.

I had a lot of snow jamming under my binding saturday as the temperatures warmed up. I also had the same thing to a lesser degree on sunday. I fabricated the polycarbonate inserts last night for 2 pair of bindings and am gonna hit silver fir chair this morning to see if it helps...

We were out Sun on and around Mt Catherine and experienced the worst build-up we've had since we began using the system - good skiing though.  Mainly the snow was piling up underfoot between the back of the frame and the heel piece, not inside the frame box. Similar to the buildup one gets between the hardwires of 3pin CRBs when the heel lever is hooked on the heel post.  NTN is easier to clear though. I love the NTN heel piece but Kenji might be right that it could be smaller and maybe improve the buildup problem.  I was testing a new plastic card that I made out of some teflon sheet. I installed it so it passes over the brake mechanism and doesn't lay flat onto the bottom of the frame box. Just kind of flaps around in there. No hole for the set screw. I was able to put a slot in the front of it so that I could pass it past the fwd set screw until it butts agains the sliding tour plate. Thought that might help with the icing. It was working as well as a newly installed blue foam insert in Brenda's binding. I'm not sure it's any better, but maybe doesn't look as cheesy.

The polycarbonate doesn't prevent the snow build up, but it helps the snow release easier when you stomp your foot. The snow build up still occurs and anchors itself to the frame sides and the brake lever, so the polycarbonate was not a cure to the snow build up problem.

Sunday, before I made the polycarbonate inserts, I used fresh packing tape on the binding's deck and applied some Rainx on top of it. I think it helped for a while, but I think it either washed away during in the day, or the temperature change made the snow more prone to packing in there. I think this time of year is when the snow most problematic. Other bindings are also effected by it, but I think their streamline geometry doesn't make it the big problem that it is with NTN..... perserverence....

I'll have more on this in my write-up, but I wanted to note here that I was skiing my NTN yesterday when caught in the slide on the Phantom. They came off my feet BEAUTIFULLY in the slide, leaving me without a hint of knee pain, let alone serious injury. They were in tour mode, with green springs set to position 2/3.

Of course, one of them is gone now, somewhere up on the Phantom, but they did their job and it's a small price to pay.
