Thanks Marcus for the link to last years thread - not being a dynafit person at that time I probably just blew by it. And thanks to Greg, Zap and Russ for your perspective and experience. I've always been a neutral stance skier; I've always sought to stand in the middle of my boot, in the middle of that magic spot on the ski which makes turning, straightlining, absorbing, etc. most relaxed, the position whereon the ski the carving, swiveling, turning of any type is balanced - no matter how much energy is put into it. I just today spent 6 1/2 hrs skiing Crystal, everything from blue run groomers to black diamond steeps; snow mostly skied out, with a few teaser untracked patches found. My Kilowatts finally felt at home on my feet. With the lifts under the toe pieces, and good ski tuning (1 degree bevel under the ski, tapering to 3 degrees at tip and tail, and 2 degree side wall bevel) it felt like a totally different pair of skis - responsive and dependable. So I'm a happy camper now. ;D I guess that the biggest surprise to me out of this experience is discovering the importance of ramp angle, or whatever we call it. And, that ski shop techs don't alert us users as to this apparently important aspect of ski setup. All of my alpine bindings are neutral in this regard; I believe that the Fritschi Diamirs and Naxo's were close to neutral as well, so I wasn't prepared for the need to consider the ramp angle.
Ron - Eric at Marmot gave me some screws - which were longer pozi drive screws with their tips lopped off - I'm guessing now, but think the screws were like #10 or 12's, about 1 1/8" to 1 - 3/16" long. I drilled through my 'cutting board, 1 cm lift plate' in the same pattern as the dynafits, then epoxied and screwed down and let them set up with the ski upside down.
Happy New Year all!

Hi Gerry and all be aware that Dynafit as well as most binding screws have a specific pitch to the threads. If you use a different pitched screw you risk striping out the threads in the binding insert in the ski. prodeed with caution. Glad to here it all Finlay worked out Gerry.

Hi Gerry,

I also have the same problem. I used home made shims for a while, but removed them because they caused my toe pieces to rotate while touring, which rotated the heel pieces.

I didn't epoxy them, which will probably fix my problem. Thanks!

Steve

The positive ramp provided by dynafits is one of the many big positives for me. I hated the flat or even negative ramp in freerides or naxos. You certainly can't argue with loving the rig you have, but making a change that big after one day in pow seems a bit rash. Alpine bindings and Dukes/Barons also have positive ramp, although I'm too lazy to find the wildsnow post that lists them all out.

That's the beauty here Andy, we can all optimize our gear - and the more info shared the more options we have. We're all so physically unique that a range of solutions in skis, bindings and boots, and their tuning and tweaking, allows us to find the best placement for the combination we have. Good sking to you!

Definitely! I know people come back to these threads as reference, so it's good to reflect a number of experiences. Cheers.
