-- supposedly Plum Guide and race bindings are arriving tomorrow!)
That looks surprisingly similar to another binding system I have seen before.
It will be interesting to hear your opinion of that system. It sure is fun to be a tech geek.

Have you had any bad experiences with the speed heel due to the shorter pins and little bump?
I never really had bad experiences with the Speed heels, but I usually took them apart and ground the bump off to give more clearance:

In August 2009, I was participating in a Ski Alignment Clinic at Timberline. Besides ski clinicians, physical therapists and equipment specialists. Jim Mates from Custom Boot Fitting in Ballard was there evaluating our boots and mounting of bindings. This was the first time I was exposed to the ramp angle on my Dynafit bindings which are the older TLT's. Jim provided me the shims to make the modification. I had shims added to a pair of skis and found a neutral ramp angle did not load my quads and I was in a more "stacked"/ balanced body position.
Jan and I recently had Jim do boot fits for us, he was successful in solving a chronic blister problem Jan was suffering from. During our visit, he also discussed and demonstrated to us how much the 10 mm of ramp angle Dynafit bindings have affects for/aft balance. Jim is by far the best boot fitter we have seen.
As a result, I started a discussion with Jon at Binding Freedom ( bindingfreedom.com/main.sc ) about making and selling shim plates to neutralize this ramp angle. As many of you know, he manufactures and sells the "DynaDuke" binding swap plates. He has indicated he will soon be offering a 9 mm thick aluminum shim plate which will be compatible with both Comfort and Vertical toe pieces. It will be drilled to match the Dynafit pattern. My plan is to use his threaded inserts to mount these to our skis. This will allow for experimentation without burning any bridges. Jon hasn't set a price for these yet.
I don't have any commercial interest in this, just wanted to pass it along. The timing of this thread was coincident with my discussions with Jon.

I have a pair of his Solly fit plates and they are well made from airplane grade aluminum. They work well and the only problem I have is they require a 3 mm allen wrench in your tool kit which you otherwise could do without.

I just meant take an entire Speed binding, but then substitute in an extra set of Vertical ST toe plates (about $10 or so for a pair).
Where can I buy extra Verical ST toe plates? I did a bit of searching, and I can't seem to find anyone in the states that sells dynafit parts online.
