I said no such thing -- perhaps wickstad's observation is correct. You have no obligation to "instruct" anyone and are free to talk about driving all you want. I agreed with Dave that this thread, pre-derail, was pretty useful, and said so.
By the path it's taken since, I don't think you have to worry too much about the influence that comment had.

OK OK...semantics, guilt by agreement ... correction "subsitute" Dave-Perkins for Marcus above and Kim Jong um for King Jong Il above.I said no such thing -- perhaps wickstad's observation is correct. At least one TAYer has been given a "Bravo!" for etiquette. Selected for special mention, Kyle Miller, in the latest Crystal Patrol Ski Blog entitled,
Gentleman Ski Bums
. While waiting for the opening of the Northway Gate last week, "...ten guys [Kyle mentioned by name]--some on boards, many on skis and ranging in age--agreed to be "gentlemen" once I [Kim Kircher] opened the gate. They promised each other they wouldn't be jerks, pushing each other over for a chance at first tracks. The group decided there were enough lines for all of them."
This is enough to restore ones faith in his fellow man.
Beats the shameful behavior at one of the other gates where a couple of skiers paused to scope out an untracked line only to see a yellow jacketed maniac dive into the deep powder they were coveting and disappear down the slope...

I'm sorry to burst your bubble Keith but I was one of the guys waiting with Kyle and Kim's report is not actually correct in it's entirety.
What really happened was this.
Kyle got there first with his buddy.
The group I was with got there second.
We were joined by others we didn't know shortly after.
Kim came up gave us the lecture on low snow conditions.
Kyle shouts out now gentlemen, no pushing and shoving, plenty for everybody.
We told him YEA RIGHT! STFU and told him to break trail up to the ridge since he was the youngest.
Kyle broke trail up to the ridge with us all behind him and if anybody had faltered they would have been trampled over by the others since the race was on.
At the top because the ridge was not flattened by previous skiers it was difficult to find a place to clip into your skis.
It was every man for himself and the usual show of tetosterone and self -interest.
Some where fast , others slower and no turns where taken, spacing observed on the downhill or courtesy given or etiquette observed.
I guess you see what you want to see.
That patrol blog Crystal produces is edited to convey the message they want conveyed to people gullible enough to believe it.
