At least one TAYer has been given a "Bravo!" for etiquette. Selected for special mention, Kyle Miller, in the latest Crystal Patrol Ski Blog entitled, Gentleman Ski Bums While waiting for the opening of the Northway Gate last week,"...ten guys [Kyle mentioned by name]--some on boards, many on skis and ranging in age--agreed to be "gentlemen" once I [Kim Kircher] opened the gate. They promised each other they wouldn't be jerks, pushing each other over for a chance at first tracks. The group decided there were enough lines for all of them."
This is enough to restore ones faith in his fellow man.
Beats the shameful behavior at one of the other gates where a couple of skiers paused to scope out an untracked line only to see a yellow jacketed maniac dive into the deep powder they were coveting and disappear down the slope...
Ironically, the "gentelmen" you speak of are some of the most present voices in this thread including, I believe, yours truly. While we were gentile about the matters of line selection and sharing the goods, I assure you we were all anything but "gentlemen like" regarding all other mateters that day! HA! Goes to show how important powder is in all matters of health, peace, and harmony. Happy La Nina everyone, be safe and courteous...

In fact if you want to get down to the nitty gritty... on the lower part of that particular run, on Lower Northway I had a yard sale at a stream crossing and several of the "gentlemen" above ( including my son) pretty much skied past me laughing.... it didn't bother me in the least , in fact I thought it was funny. Same run at the last final nasty bit before the lift, one of the laughers had a yard sale as well and could't find his skis. I stopped, formed an X with my skis above and helped him dig to find his skis. I did this , not out of kindness or etiquette but just to make him feel bad for skiing past me.
Untracked powder: very addictive drug... makes us act in strange ways.

(I let Killer Miller go first because he said it was tradition)(and because he cut right)(and because he is pretty quick for a splitter)(and because he went before me)
BC etiquette:
F-most of it.
I don't see a need to remove myself from the skin track to piss and cover it up. I don't piss in the track but I will continue to piss along side when it suites me.
If you are taking a lunch break atop some line and I come along... I may ski it. It is your line once you ski it.
It is my line if I ski it. Take your lunch at the bottom if it is important to you. :
If someone abandons the tour for perception of danger the entire group need not always retreat in unison. If it is reasonable, go back the way you came... you are a big boy and if you are not, how did you end up touring with me in dangerous conditions?
I set the best track that I can and not the best track that the least capeable person in the area is likely to come across.
There are probably other rules that I reject but I got distracted by people criticizing Scotsman's criticism.
I don't tour for wild snow in order to practice proper etiquette. Keep it simple and be rational. Be nice to others but don't expect everyone to "spoon turns" that you will be guaranteed your fair share.
If you want some, go get you some.

I was showing correct etiquette and listing them alphabetically so as to not show a preference except I moved my name ahead because I'm special.I rank only above Itchy on your list?
