You are still a young man and there is hope for you yet!
However when giving advise to somebody to buy skinny assed, retro sticks because they are cheap when at the same time having finally achieved enlightenment and bought super fat, clown shoes for yourself..... mmmmmhhhhhhh.... one has to ask .. why?
Old codgers such as Mr. Turner suffer the same syndrome as our elders... "When I was young I had to walk to school 10 miles uphill both ways..." Or, in this case, use skinny skis. He's just confirming his right of passage into the doddering years.

Scotsman, what were your all-mountain/BC ski's 3 years ago? I'm still a young pup, and I remember when 90 underfoot was "FAT".
You don't need tip rocker to have fun. Anyone who knows how to angulate and apply pressure to their tips can go a long way with a relatively damp, softer model like these.
And what's wrong with saving some money!? Times are tough, and we don't all have jobs where we can sit around surfing the webz for snowmobile "dummy" beacons, heli-ski vacation packages, and National Park conspiracy theories.
And I got my Drifters ON SALE!
Ahh hell, I can't keep up this facade.
ROB A BANK! GO FAT! IT'S WORTH IT!
Now I'm all flustered. I'm going to the gear room to finger fondle my Drifters, O1's& Customs.

Remember I only started skiing seriously 7 years ago.
The first pair of skis I bought were a pair of Atomic Guides- Toured up to Muir and skied down with my skins on because it would slow me down and I did not know how to ski ( still don't).sold them after 1 year .
Next about 6 years ago bought a pair of Rossi B3's- narrow assed sticks I now only use as rock skis.
Next G3 Reverends which I bought because the Rossi's were too narrow- loved that ski and gave them to my son who still uses them .
Next pair of Dynafit Mustah Atas- ( I was going through my superlight phase), too narrow, and too short- sold them to Snow Bell
That was the last time I ever had skis under 105mmm and one that did not have rocker
Since then DPS Lotus 120's ( 120mm)- sold ...bought them too long @200 CM
DPS Wailers 105mm- my hardpack ski w/ dynafits
Rossi S7's 115mm- my resort-sidecountry ski w/ barons
Voile Drifters 125mm- my powder and slush touring ski w/ dynafit.
As to your final admission... don't you feel much better now that you've dropped your skiiny assed skis are OK facade?

'True .. he has finally acheived wisdom and bought superfat skis... and I hear that a lot... they are cheater sticks for old people.....
duh!!!
Why make it any harder to ski the variable snow we get in the PNW backcountry. Superfat skis with rocker makes it much easier ... NO MATTER HOW GOOD YOUR TECHNIQUE OR HOW DODDERY YOU ARE.
You will perform better, last longer and have more fun no matter your technique..... I bit like Viagra( or so I'm told..... never needed it myself!)
